Think i pinned down Ltd Ec-1000. Now JB, Fluence or EMG?

In the JB line of thought, I currently have a LP with a JB and 50's wiring, LTD AS-1 Skolnick with a JB which is very similar to the EC-1000, and Chubtone with Tone Nerd Whiskey's. The LP is less compressed and more dynamic than the AS-1, and the Chubtone is similar to the LP with a touch more string clarity. Whatever that is worth.

It was JB/59 for me but didn't care for the pickups so switched them out.

That said... Not sure if you can ask that question to members here because it's a "You" thing. Based on your personal needs and preference.

I had the same guitar but the full thickness version and it was great with the SD '59 set. I got great lead tones from it.

I currently have an EC-1001T with Fishman Open Classics, and they're pretty cool. Not overly hot either. I have another EC-1001T with an EMG 57/66 set, and that one might be a little hotter than I like, but I haven't had it long. Time will tell.

I had 3 other EC1000T's in the past, and my favorite combo was the 85(B)/60(N). I replaced 81's in 2 of them with the 85's, and really liked the 85. The third one had a set of Dimarzio 36th in them, which was killer.

I haven't yet but leaning towards a JB-equipped. It is a tone I'm familiar with and something I know I'll dig. I'm sure I'll get an ESP down the road and then can change it up, lol

Try out an Antiquity JB if you get a chance, something about it is a little bit different when you open an amp up. Feels like it has a bit more harmonics and "open-ness" to it, if that makes sense.

Also if you plan on swapping from passives to EMGs in the future, pull the pickup rings off and double check the route will fit. I've had to route a bunch of guitars out for those tight 1/8" corners EMGs have. I've had to do it with pickup ring mounted guitars a bunch too. Pain in the balls.

Emg 57 is my fav. JB’s are very hit or miss. They can sound dull or great. Fluence is hit or miss as well. When I first got my PRS, I put in a set if the KSE Fluence pickups. In some applications, they’re great, but in lower gain situations, they’re too hot without enough low end. When I tried the Fluence Classics, i was underwhelmed. I could also hear the frequency that the high end was getting cut. It felt artificial.

I've got EMG's in this TE-1000 and I like them, but I have another TE-1000 that has Fishman Fluence Modern's in it and I much more prefer the Fishman. They are more articulate and have a singing quality to them.

I bought an Ec1000 Evertune a few weeks ago. It has Duncans in it. I compared it to my Epi Prophecy with Fishman Moderns. For some crazy reason the Duncans are much hotter and fuller than the Fishmans.

I feel like I've given Fishman Moderns a thorough tryout in a SL2, and I just don't get it. I could get OK sounds out of them and played a couple gigs, but they never won a shootout even when the amp was set specifically for them. Maybe I don't understand how to set up amps for them. IDK.

The EMG 81TW/89 run at 24 volts is where I landed.

I wanted to like Fishmans. The fact that they have three modes to choose between makes them seem versatile and useful. But to my ear, EMG’s just sound better.

Plus the battery in an EMG lasts like 10 times longer that one in a Fishman.

I have the 81/60 in my Eclipse Std, which is PERFECT.

The JB/Jazz or JB/'59N are also great in LP designs, although I'm less of a fan of the JB in thin-bodied superstrats, especially bolt-ons.

Yeah I'm nervous about the moderns but not sure why. It seemed like the passive and modern push/pull would give me both though so probably not a big concern.

Most of the clips I heard were just like the heaviest distortion ever and downtuned, etc. I heard a few "rock" clips. My band does punk and hard rock type tones but I use a good amount of distortion. Just want to have some warmth if possible.
Get a Juarez “JBJ” from the 80’s for punx/hard rock unless you want to put a modern tonality on it, then Fishman.

Would you mind posting clips so the community can weigh in after reviewing your playing?
