i think im going to sell both my cabinets, 5150, charvel, and start over.

i think im going to do the voodoo modded JMP-1. i was going to do an ADA-Mp1 rack and owned a 3TM model for about 2 months, but was forced to sell it for medical bills from hospitalization with pnumonia, along with the power amp and everything else.

im just thinking about going G-M II, JMP-1 and a decent poweramp and call it quits.

ill find marshall cabinets when they come around.

:dunno:

damn this sucks. going to think about this rationally and sleep on it, crunch some numbers first.. but im 50/50 about it.

tone chasing is such a bitch. not sure if i want to buy pedals and stuff so i think this is my next move      :aww:

yeah i think i can swing the power amp and the JMP-1. ill save the rest of the money.

anyone want to help me find a strategy 400?

I have sold everything and started from Scratch MANY TIMES.
Sometimes its good just to get that 'itch' out your system.
The 'not knowing' of how kick ass you think something should sound like.
I been buying/selling my gear for a long time.
I tell myself......"THIS IS MY TONE!! I AM DONE SEARCHING!"
.......only to sell it all off a couple months later!

If you can swing it.....I say go for it!!

yeah i just thought to myself why the hell should i settle for this if im not 100% satisfied with it?

im REALLY interested in that 120/120 poweramp in the classifieds, i really want to get that before anyone else does but somethings gotta go first

i originally was going to do a strategy poweramp but realized they have no resonance/presence controls. after owning 3 5150's, i dont think i can do without them now

hopefully i can get some help in this, im a complete noob when it comes to setting up MIDI but i think my first problem was never asking/learning it in the first place. im willing to learn if i can get something decent together

im just shaking on that 120/120 though... im affraid someones gonna grab it :aww:

My feelings on gear? Everything is replaceable and for sale. Unless its a ONE OF or sentimental reasons.
I used to collect Electrics back in the 90's. Probably owned over 300 or so thru the years. I was so bad that I wasnt even playing. Just buying and searching for that NEXT BETTER guitar. I was always flipping gear. So I can sell anything at the drop of a hat and not think twice. And usually when I want something and its 'sold' before I get my hands on it.........another one will pop up soon. DAMN EBAY!!

100% believe it. it would be cool to flip gear to get to try everything once you think about it. hell, some of the amplifiers brad has played i doubt ill ever get the chance. i've kept on to this gear for a long time though. 5 years? somwhere around there. just ready for a change.. my style in playing has changed as well. just really looking for something to match "me" alot better.

i looked all over google/ebay and found out real quick those 120/120 power amps are rare as hell. but still - ebay will be the first place i look for getting all of this if that 120/120 goes to anyone else

now is a bad time to sell and a great time to buy.
Sad to say, but yeah. Nobodys gear is worth anything these days.

Everytime I need or want a new tone I just create one with the AxeFx Ultra. ;)

when I need Marshall tones, I run a JMP-1 and JFX-1 into my Bose L1 using the speaker emulator outs, (sounds great to me) Close enough, but it doesn't push air like an amp. I'm sure the JMP-1 would sound good direct, a set of active PA cabs, FRFR set-up. Could be an option to consider?

I ran a JMP-1/9200 rig for many years (I still have it and love it) and will be glad to help you dial in tones as well as setup the MIDI switching for it. Just let me know when you get the stuff and I will be glad to help.

You won't miss the 5150's, I am not bashing them at all, just that the JMP-1 is very capable of those kind of tones and a lot more.

I will say that power amps really make a difference with the JMP-1. I have used mine with a 9200 and a 2:90 and they both sounded different but good and needed tweaking on the JMP-1 between them. Never used the Peavey so I don't know about that one but I am sure it will rock.

I agree. We joke with each other when we flip gear but we all do it. Life's short.

You will be quite pleased if you bag the Peavey 120/120. I keep a couple in my backup rack with some Todd Langner preamps and this little rig obliterates.
