I thought about selling everything so many times... When I saw Steve Hackett in '92... Then when i saw Steve Hackett again in '05... And when I saw Steve Howe in '07... And almost every time I listen to my old Saga records and hear Ian Crichton's playing... Oh, I almost forgot, Holdsworth has that same effect on me... And Michel Cusson, and Pat Metheny... The list could go on forever...

You will be quite pleased if you bag the Peavey 120/120. I keep a couple in my backup rack with some Todd Langner preamps and this little rig obliterates.

thats what im hoping for. im going to go with the 120/120 just for the resonance and presence controls.

all this stuff hits ebay next week. im ready to get cooking.

the killer is that every bit of it will need to go, everything listed in my signature that is - and thats just for the rack to get completed - no cabinets.

i figured i could score some pretty fucked up beaten marshall cabinets and just put 75's in them when i get the chance - at least thats the game plan.

until then i might just build a stupid simple cabinet to play through.

im glad im not alone in this chase - i see there are alot of people getting ready to jump to do the same thing, so it will be cool to be right along posting updates. i no joke woke up early dreaming about this thing - to me that rack is everything i could want in a tone chase and fully interchangable. i lost out on the mesa 395 poweramp - no way i could swing one when you start to figure in the price of mogami cable in bulk of 318 feet, end cables, used rack cases, all the little suff.

im going to end up using what i had before - a rocktron MIDImate as a midi pedal. i reallly dont like how expensive and bulky the GCX ground control MIDI pedal is. there is a post in here about the whole rack setup, i would love to have more opinions on it

someone else mentioned an axefx setup too, and the cost will be about the same as a axe-fx standard bought brand new. but theres no way i could do such a unit. id go crazy in a week getting lost in menus and always fine-tuning stuff because of the capabilities of control. but what im getting ready to do - i can fully understand why that unit comes across peoples minds.

thanks for the warmings guys. it makes this jump feel a little better. i thought i had lost my mind when i thought this and im glad that taking the long way around is sometimes the road thats best traveled here on the forum.

ill be damn near pissed off if i end up buying a 5150 again

Couldn't agree more sometimes we forget where it all started from with all this new gear to chose from Mesa and Marshall and Fender have been around for a long time and will continue to be around for a long time. I am thinking about a mark 1V or V and maybe a jcm 800. Think about it guys these are the amps that started it all and still are the basses for all the modds and highbreads comming out..

Unless its ONE OF A KIND(And I have sold some of them too! )
Everything can be re-bought. I freaking love getting new gear.
Sometimes I win.......sometimes I lose.
But at least you get the EXPERIENCE of having it and playing thru it to see if you are MISSING OUT on anything!

if i cant find two beat to hell marshall straight cabinets cheap, i might just spring for one of those lynch cabinets. i had the chance to play a lynch box when they first came out and was just absolutely blown away. maybe now their price has come down. i dont hear too many people talking about them anymore
