in an instance where i could play a voodoo JMP-1 before purchasing, i would love too.

but that wont happen. and if whitesnake used them live, then im sure i wont have a problem getting something out of it.

all i know, is that the 5150 isnt inspiring anymore. really hard for me to play through and get inspiration, just burned out after 5-6 years of them i guess.

not really trying to create a new tone, just want something that is easier to play. i figured out that pissed off marshall tone is what im after - vintage modern for example only with more diversity/pauses in the gain. the JMP-1 does this modded perfectly to what i can tell.

add that, lexicon reverbs, TC delays, boss chorus, and im in heaven.

still, im iffy about going from a head to a rack.... :scared:

Oh Yeah....new gear usually gets me going wanting to play new stuff and inspires me.
Not sure if I could handle the same rig for long periods of time.
Guess I got spoiled flipping amps!

A couple of new heads (Fireball and 5152. 5152 is on the other side of the room. 5150 in pic is not mine but I had a month to play it) ,worked for me.
I have been playing alot more and alot of different stuff since geting the ENGL and an old guitar upgraded.

yeah those engl fireballs are pretty sick.

they can get that meanness from hell tone excellent, i wouldnt mind a fireball 60 to be honest. but thats the thing about this rack setup. its a devotion - theres alot planned here and it will total out close to $3,100 once completed just for the rack.

i never know the tones available, if i like it or not, the durability of live use, and the inspirations it could or could not make if i never bust down and build it.

BUT i will say this, IF IF IF IF after christmas and its not what im looking for, the next amplifier will be a fireball 60. im going to go with a marshall preamp to give me that marshall pissed off tone so hopefully ill be set for another 6-10 years. but if things dont work out - fireball is definately in my line up. i love the way the 60 sounds, dont care for the 100 too much. what they claimed they fixed in the 100's they took away what i liked in the 60's lol.

If you want the "Marshall" sound I would recommend a single channel 800 or older or a amp that is like this. Then use pedals to get that over the top thing.

When my JMP1 was stolen I did not even care ..... it was OK but I rather use your current rig any day.

is everyone talking about the JMP-1 stock or the JMP-1 voodoo modded? i've heard they are whole different units once completed by the guys at voodoo - sound and feel nothing like they were stock

the reason im going this route is that ive seen so many people chasing the JCM 800/900 saga and buying/selling so many pedals to get that tone. thats something i neither have time for or care to work with, hence slapping an OD on a modded JMP-1 and being done with it.

im still going to build it - i think i would like it alot for who i am and what im searching for tone wise. but i wouldnt even consider it with a stock JMP-1. still though, your statement is scaring me

Stock ..... but I have had all the programmable preamps and the Solando was the only one that really felt and sounded like a head.... the motorized pots / it is like a head.

I would be very surprised if it was different in that respect.
