Thinking of either a Wizard Modern Classic 2 or Suhr SL-68??

I consider mine a MC 2 since i have the effects loop,channel switching,only thing I do not have is the contour dial on front of the amp. Also had Rick put in the bright dials on the back for lead and rhytmn channels. It's a 50 watt head from 1998 but now updated. I agree if you like a mod Marshall this amp is the cats nuts. I am running it through an opened back Wizard 2 12 cab with rock 20 speakers. Never get bored with the tones and it always sounds great.Just be careful its a bright amp so you don't have to dime all the controls,it will show any sloppness in playing style beyond that it will sound amazing ! Cool to finally hear some reviews on the II from end users. I've been curious about this amp since they came out. I loved my MC, if he made it even better, it must be one badass amp. Congrats on the score OP.

This Clip3 is the ideal crunch tone which i have in my head for a long time. The PRS Tremonti is my main guitar , too. It has the right amount of les paul punch, but with enough clarity. I love the Tremonti PRS.
Where can i play and buy a Wizard in Europe? This amp is really awesome. I want one really bad!

As you might think, i`m very interested in the MC II, the newest model. Is the newest one that much better like an older one or like the Vintage Classic?
What do you think, is it realistic to wait for a used one at ebay? Its questionable if that will be the newest revision? How much do they run used? And is the output transformer ready, can be rewired for 230Volts (Europe)? If i need a stepdown transformer, its too much hassle.
The 50Watter costs 4095$ new. shipping around 400$. And than taxes, Its a lot of money, man.
 
Well, here she is. Was crankin the shit out of this thing yesterday. Had the lead master at about 11 o'clock for you fellow wizard owner out there. For those that aren't privy, that's almost 747 engine loud man! Christ the Friedman cab was about to go nuclear! Flipped her on standby to take a whizz when I heard the doorbell ringing like 10 times in a row. I opened the door about to verbally land last whomever it was with the Parkinson's induced index finger and was to my surprise greeted by 2 police officers. Got a warning to shut down the "concert" or else.
Never had this happen in the 5 years of living in my hood, where every lot is on 2 acres.

:lol: :LOL: My old Wizard was the only amp ever to get me a neighbor note on my door. My MCII master has a great taper. I play it on 5. Don't forget you can activate the loop and use the send and return to bring the volume down and turn the master up some for the tone at lower volume.
 
My neighbors are regularly pissed...lol I only give them small doses at volume these days and never after 11pm :rock:

anyone own both the 50 and 100 watt MC who can give me an idea of the differences?

Whats the difference between the Modern Classic and the MCII? Do they get the same amount of gain?
 
buy one bro, you won't be dissappointed (MC2). Own a couple of others as well, Soldano and Friedman. SL-68 is nice too, but you can't beat that iconic marshall vibe of the MC2 taken to a new level. This amp is in a different league IMHO.

I just got a used MC II and love it.
Wizards aren't for wimps man, when you step up get ready.
Wizards are so much better than other amps they are in their own class.
I ordered a new MTL 100 and cant wait to put that through the paces.
What I have found that works really good for low volume use is to boost it.
Set it for mid gain and then boost it and it works killer.
What was VERY suprising was how unbelieveably great it sounds with single coils.
 
Ah, the overdrive channel is the same circuit in the MCI and II.. per rick. The difference is in the clean channel and the contour control. I'll compare my drive channel gain levels to anyone here who has a MC II if you want some evidence!

Here is the official description:

"The MC II expands control to the Rhythm Channel with the addition of higher gain and a Rhythm Master control ranging from soft and smooth in character to tight and in your face vintage tones.

The Lead Gain and Lead Master channel is carried over from the Modern Classic"
