Thinking of getting a 50s Gibson Les Paul....... I never thought I would but yeah..... It's time *_*

I had an ES333 in satin. I used zymol car wax and a lot of elbow grease to buff it up a bit but it still looked old and slightly dull. Every gig I ever played people wanted to know how old the guitar was, cause it looked old.

If you decided to take it to full gloss I'd use a quality rubbing compound and a good terry cloth towel, work it until the satin texture is gone, then use a 3M imperial glaze, and finally a quality wax. It'll save time and should get you pretty close to a factory gloss. It should have wet look when you are done. Real choice.

I hope you find the LP of your dreams even though that means it should be a 335.:LOL:
Honestly have used this stuff on Epiphone VOS type 59 LP finishes which are pretty much like satin and have gotten great results.

Good stuff too.

Yeah honestly just a decent random LP would do nice especially given Gibsons consistent quality recently when it comes to current production models *_*

I played a 50s reissue goldtop with P90s the local shop had for 3k. Absolutely epic guitar. The opposite of everything I thought I'd personally be into, but I was into that guitar 100% after playing it. No, I do not own it, but I would if I could!

I realize now, after 20+ years of shredding, I like rounded, thicker necks, easier on my hands, so 50s rounded seems to be my jam.

I have three Les Pauls, a 2019 Standard Iced Tea, 2003 Classic, and 2025 Studio Session. I like the 60s neck personally but would play a 50s neck.

The Studio Session is one of the best purchases I've ever made and I can't put the damn thing down. I love my Standard too.

I think it is great that Epiphone is making great Les Pauls but if I get a Les Paul, it is a Gibson. It is just iconic to me. The headstock, the logo, etc. For people wanting a cheap Les Paul, I'm glad they are making them better now.

Les Paul’s definitely need to be played in person, more so if used. It sucks. I’ll save a few on the ol’ wishlist on GC used but rarely pull the trigger. I know I can return it but I prefer not if I can help it. Plus they often give it the wrong model description which can mean a completely different neck profile than you’re expecting. Plus I’m one of those, need it on the light side, pussy’s. 10 pounds can just fuck right off.
I look for older ones before they went 50’s/60’s neck because they tend to have bigger frets. These newer ones can be pretty nice but needing a refret out of the gate is a hell no, unless it’s a crazy deal giving you room.

Hey man i'm with you there. I can't do the heavy boat anchor Les Pauls. I'm hoping Gibson comes out with a "zero gravity" guitar that weighs like 2 pounds.

Get an R7 or R8. They are far superior in every way to the Standards. You can get a used one for like 3K.

Law of diminishing returns is at play for sure. Will a 50s do everything the CS does? Yes. But you know what, you only get one ride on this blue ball, you may as well play the best you can afford. See my avatar if you need inspiration.
