Oh, he's definitely better than I'll ever be

Talented kid, for sure!

I was more impressed with his drumming and keys (not something I could pull off), but his guitar and bass was great, as well!

It’s awesome to see such an interest in music from kids.

A thread about how good 14 year old boys are ? Where’s Mailman and jackbootedthug ??? That’s right up their alley...

This!
Kids just don't take up instruments anymore, I bet most of the kids out there that do play are kids of former/present musicians. Like my son, my nephew etc.

Teenagers with amazing technical ability doesn't surprise me. When you're a kid, you've got nothing but time and a capacity to learn. It's the 4 year old covering RUSH that leaves me in awe, considering I was probably just trying to not bump into walls at that age...

When you think about it, chances are most of your favorite albums by your favorite artists were done when they were in their late teens or early 20s.

Pretty awesome. Love seeing younger guys rocking out. I like how he did everything himself but the first thing that popped in my mind was damn, I wish my dad was rich.

+1 - the drumming!

amazing talent, but he need to sing the song to impress girls haha

I didn't realize guitar playing was a competition or sport lol!
What a sad existence you must have if you approach it as such!

I've been struggling to buy the gear I need to create finished content for nearly 30 years and even when I finally get there I'll not have equipment of the quality this kid, who doesn't even shave yet, does.

If you know your gear I dare you to do the math based only on what we can see in the vid (there's obviously much more) and figure out what someone's spent. I know this much: It wasn't the kid's part-time McDonalds wages that got him there.

I love supporting youngsters with music endeavours, but this sort of thing seriously makes me wanna puke. Literally. Had I not had to endure the ridiculous struggle I've been through I'm sure I wouldn't be fazed by it at all, but my mind and body are all-too-aware of the wounds and I s'pose it's a physical reaction as much as anything.

I want to wish him good luck, but I've a strong feeling he won't need it.

Having access to great gear at a young age has zero to do with being very disciplined, focused & talented.

Most likely the kid has a parent, or other relative that has taught him how to use, and allowed him to use most of the gear. Or maybe his parents make enough to help him realize his dream. For all we know the kid may have bought all of it himself. He is obviously very intelligent to be playing at that level, and using and understanding the gear.
There are many musicians, and studio owners in this world, and a good many have children. Should they run out and buy a Chinese shitbox guitar, and make them record themselves with cheap interface thru a broken down Dell?
I worked hard for the gear I have too, but I don't hate this kid because he possibly had it given to him. He seems to be putting it to good use, that will likely turn into a career. Good for him that he has parents that support his musical endeavors, and good on him for putting in the hard work and practice to be an accomplished player at such a young age. (Nobody gave him that last part, and all of the money in the world can't buy it!)
Dont be a hater man, it will cause you to miss a lot of good shit in life.

It's a bummer you've got that kind of reaction to it. It'd be one thing if the kid had access to all that gear and played like absolute shit and was using the video to just brag about the gear he owns, which is something I've seen on this forum and many others over the years. This kid obviously put the time in to get to that point, on multiple instruments. It'd be cool for a kid that age to tackle all the instruments in a Green Day tune, never mind a Dream Theater tune.

My dad wasn't exactly wealthy, he wasn't even paycheck to paycheck, it was like paycheck to being broke and praying we had enough food to last us until the next paycheck. When I showed that I was REALLY into playing guitar, he busted his ass to get me a brand new MIM Strat back in '95. I know with every bit of sense that if he could, he would have built a studio for me and stocked it full of the best gear he could get his hands on. This kid's situation seems to allow that to happen. Just like it's no one's business when someone buys an expensive guitar/amp they can't really play all that well, it's no one's business how this kid's parents decide to spend their money. In the context of this, I think it's safe to say that gear is an investment in the kid's future. He's proven he has the drive and skill to wield it and I'd think it'd be every parent's dream to be able to give their kid access to everything to get them to excel even more.

Kid living his rich Daddy’s dream. Probably made to play hours a day since he was old enough to hold a guitar. Doubt he gets any joy from playing. It’s probably just a chore to him. But hey, a lot of successful athletes and musicians were rich kids that were afforded everything at a young age to chase their dreams, and/or careers.

I was gonna say, seeing that he can perform DT level of playing on 4 different instruments at 14 he's either 1) just a monster prodigy who needs to practice but nothing anyone would say is crazy, like maybe 1 hour each per instrument a day, or 2) he's been straight up forced to play having absolute zero free time.

I guess the 3rd option would be he's got some form of autism/Asperger's etc that allows him to have that kind of focus to play 12+ hours a day and enjoy it, and if that's the case good for him!

How the fuck do people come up with shit like this?

No more internet for me today.

Pretty amazing the assumptions, usually very bitter ones, that are made on these videos. I don't give a fuck what gear he has available to him. If I had his gear I wouldn't be able to pull off what he did, especially on the drums. My hats off to the kid's ability and hopefully he can do something good with it. I do sense there's more to this kid than meets the eye but I only wonder out of innate curiosity, not jealousy or YT rage!
