I got a buddy who used to be in a fairly successful, local original band way back in the late 80s. Death metal outfit called Corrosive.

Fast forward many years and I’m in a not unsuccessful local cover band. My buddy gives me a bunch of shit, says I sold out, he’s in it for the glory, blah blah blah. My band was largely playing RATM, Deftones, AIC and the like.

Fast forward several more years and I have no band, but occasionally do live sound gigs. My buddy. The death metal guy, goes 180 degrees the opposite way and starts a cover band that specializes in dance stuff. Michael Jackson to ZZ Top. To be fair, they are getting a lot of play in the STL area. Anyway, I just got this text from him and I thought I’d share.

Don got pissed cause I wanted Damian to show us how to do the Cupid Shuffle. Said he wasn't taking no dance lessons at band practice ?told him if he's gonna be in a gay dance band he's gonna have to do gay shit ? he was doing it better than me by the end of practice ???

Yeah, I cried when he called me that. Then I wiped the tears away with my gig money. Which bought me a state of the art digital PA rig, 3 Ampeg SVTs ( including the much coveted SVT II non pro), three or four 810CLs, a flawless Spector NS4, a 16' enclosed trailer, about $5000 worth of bad ass mics, an ass tons of beer, several guns and god knows how much weed.
