Alright I'm not criticizing anybody here who likes that song on page 1 by Meshuggah but my God man that is awful imo . I don't consider that metal at all that's heavy thrash or maybe what they call death metal .

I believe the vast age differences in this thread is what causes some people to view metal very differently than others , to me stuff like Meshuggah is definitely not metal but to others it's metal . Doesn't mean anybody's wrong .

That is all:thumbsup:

Ya, Hammett's second solo in One is a little weak at the end, which is why he does a better rendition of it live. Alot of his solo's on AJFA seem rushed or incomplete... listen to the one in Frayed Ends Of Sanity, it's terrible, and this was a time (the 80's) when Hammett made every note count in his leads, not just the crappy improvised pentatonic wankery that he does today. I don't think he plays a single bad note on the whole MOP album, plus he uses some different scale patterns besides pentatonic in some of the leads, as well as some arpeggios. I believe there was a time when he cared about playing great solos.
That's because the recording process was totally rushed for Kirk, whose leads were the last thing to be recorded and done during brief breaks on the VH monsters of rock tour. It really shows too and I agree 100%.

It's extreme metal. Not for everyone. I understand where you are coming from though.

I will never forget the first time I heard this! We played it constantly in guitar class every time the teacher would get up and walk to his offfice we would launch into the opening riff! :m17:

Could never pick just one. Will just name a few.
Metal church: watch the children pray
Slayer: angel of death
Megadeth: holy wars
Pantera: slaughtered
Priest: painkiller
Maiden: hallowed be thy name
Sabbath: heaven and hell
Dio: last in line
Metallica: Harvester of sorrow
Charlie Daniels: the devil went down to georgia:p

Halloween by Helloween

This is a great one, but helloween has like 5 songs that could possibly be the best metal song ever

Edit: Uli Kusch (drummer on sole survivor and falling higher) has so much more taste and subtlety than Tomas Haake lmfao

After Turbo and Ram it Down, I needed Painkiller!
Awesome album, this tour was my third or fourth concert.

It's metal. Up-tempo, double bass drum blast beats, staccato riffing, death metal vocals, breakdown, etc etc.

But its cool that everyone has different definitions and boundaries for is considered metal. I'm on the FB group Metal Realm and there are all kinds of posts of bands that I don't consider to be metal like: Ratt, Cinderella, Winger, etc. Now, someone else may consider "hair metal bands" to be actual metal music but to me it is just rock n roll or heavy rock. Hell, we had one guy recently whom not only thought "Unchained" was a heavy metal song but it was the heaviest metal song up until that time (1981). That said, the song definitely influenced a lot of metal and probably created a lot of metal heads

Either way, there is definitely plenty of grey area.

That original Forbidden Evil lineup was late 80's thrash at it's finest. Their other albums were ok but not to that level.

this tune. i think is the most relentless song ever. just a pedal to the metal shredder

I love that track. Remember the first time hearing it in Bava’s movie Demons.

Lol..That was the first time I heard it too! God bless the 80’s video stores. I remember pausing the credits to see who was playing what. Great soundtrack. Love me some Princess of the Dawn too.
