This seem like about average decent LP tone to me

Oh boy. Please save the anticipated sarcastic response, but it sounds to me like you don't understand what a conflict of interest is. A conflict of interest arises when an individual or organization has multiple interests and when serving one means working against the other. In this case, your favorite ground dwelling dwarf and mine is receiving benefits from the company whose gear he is touting while representing himself as a neutral and objective gear reviewer, by which he also receives benefits in the form of ad revenue and personal promotion.

As mentioned, the gear itself is the (Known) benefit, which he undermined by labeling the segment "Satisfied customer" and by saying he wasn't paid and didn't want them to "Give" him a guitar — he wanted them to build him a guitar ? That's some crafty linguistics right there. Not quite lying, but lying. And he further went out of his way to claim he wasn't being influenced by the admitted relationship, which was contradicted by his receiving the guitar as compensation for prior video work. That's how I understood it anyways. Finally, the end of the video was basically a Heritage commercial.

You like to think you can maintain objectivity in your assessment of the guitar by just listening to it, but that's naive. You're listening to a world class guitar player for one, and second you don't know what kind of processing he's employed to get the tone he is getting. And while you might like to think your psychologically unique, the enthusiasm he displays — which could be genuine or not — will probably subtly bias your opinion about Heritage guitars. I don't know if you're a big fan of David or Heritage or what, but seems like this is personal. Maybe 'cause I pointed out your boss is probably not the altruistic benefactor you seemed to think? I dunno, I don't care. Hate to burst your bubble bro. Watch the vid, like Tim Pierce, like average Heritage LP's or not, it's up to you. In the meantime, I'll continue to enjoy doing what I do, which among them is constructively pointing out BS and questioning conflicts of interest when I see 'em.

You’re missing the entire point- I don’t give a fuck.

I don’t care if Heritage paid him $10mil to make the vid and give him a guitar every week. I don’t care if he ran it through a whole other studio worth of gear to make it sound the way it sounds. I don’t make purchasing decisions based off YouTube videos. All these vids are entertainment, it’s a quick avenue to hear someone who can play, play a guitar with a pleasing tone. Nothing more, nothing less.

Maybe I AM psychologically unique in that I can’t comprehend why in the fuck anyone would care how the hell the guy makes his money? No amount of words any of them say have ever made me buy a piece of gear, I don’t use YouTube vids to make decisions for me, so how they get paid has ZERO bearing on anything I do in my own life and I cannot fathom how other people let it become a bother to them.

I don’t know who David is, not interested in ever buying a Heritage or any guitar over $1500 and absolutely couldn’t give two fucks less about your thoughts on the owner of my company who I’ve worked alongside for 6 years and you read 1-2 posts about him on a forum without knowing anything else about what we do here. Your negative-tinged angle is certainly noted, though.

my father HATED things like beavis and butthead and the three little pigs video, for no other reason than people were making money off something he deemed “talentless” and stupid. It seems to me like it’s the same thing with so many and YouTubers here.. it’s not a concern that some jerk might make a decision off a review deemed inaccurate or that kids were chain sawing down power lines, it comes down to people are making money for something as easy as a voice over or playing guitar. I remember being at parties as a kid and someone putting beavis and butthead on and my father just going on these tangents about “how could you watch this knowing people are getting paid” much like people complain about YouTubers here instead of just enjoying it for what it is. He definitely would have made threads bitching if he knew how to join a forum

Whatever man you know you'll be one of those "my crotch hurts" guys the next time someone posts up a Glenn Fricker video. That pretty much goes for anyone who criticized me in here.

Lemme use the mentality: "bunch of jealous dudes who hate Glenn for having amazing hair and an equally amazing studio and making money off of it."` Hell at least he's willing to shit on a piece of gear when it's actual junk nstead of giving whoever sent it a reach around just so he can get some freebies. So next time you hear that fingernails on chalkboard voice he gots you just keep your little pie hole closed and remember this thread and how we aren't to criticize youtubers who make ridiculous click bait titles like "the MOST AMAZING LP EVER!!!!!!"

You all owe Glenn an apology.

You and angry man have yet to address what I actually wrote. It's not the fame and fortune. It's not the "entertainment." it's the apparent deceitfulness. At 2:22 he says, "Heritage didn't ask me to do this video" leading you to believe it's all impartial and objective. He goes on to say that he did do some previous video work for Heritage, but had told them, "don't pay me and don't give me a guitar....build me a guitar,” as if building him a custom guitar wasn’t payment.

The video covers that very guitar and seems to include some of the prior video work as well. I’m guessing most people would believe the video is an enthusiastic gear review instead of sponsored content, which it arguably is, even though he states that it isn’t.

I'm all for capitalism and making money, but quit with the trickery. These days everyone thinks the way to make money is tricking you into free this and that and hiding relationships, fine print, etc. It's bullshit and I don't support it. Just build a good product for a good price, advertise it openly and people will come. Consumers have a choice here as well, and will ultimately drive the market. Tolerate it and support it and it will continue.

Well, the context is what makes me not give a shit. That and the fact that advertising hasn’t been about honesty since the start. Corn Flakes has been using Elmer’s glue for milk in their pictures for decades, Perdue told us Oxycontin wasn’t addictive, McDonald’s sells us gym mats covered in BBQ sauce once a year and people line up for it thinking it’s special…

In the context of a world class guitarists pimping a guitar that maybe 3% of the guitar buying community would even take an interest in, I can’t find enough fucks to give and will gladly save any resentment about that for the companies/people that run the country/world and harmfully fuck over citizens. A dude making money/earning guitars by doing what he loves is of no concern to me.

Add to that, I’m not going to invest a second of emotional energy fighting against something I do not know the details of. I don’t know what Tim’s hourly rate is, none of my business how he determines that or negotiates. Without knowing the details of payments, it’s all assumption. I learned long ago that running my mouth based on assumptions got me no where, real fast.

Yeah, propping up Glenn Fricker is always a great way to make a point.

That guy should probably have a throne here; metal guy in his 50’s that just bitches about everything while not having any creative output of his own. If Glenn’s making money off his studio, it’s because it’s a prop in his YouTube videos. Last I knew his biggest claim to fame was re-mixing a song on Geoff Tate’s half-assed ”Queensryche” FU record that they didn’t even pay him for. Fortunately for him, he found an audience with the “Everything sucks” crowd that hasn’t aged past 15.

But he sure blows some smoke about it. I made it to 1:35 when he said you can hear the individual bells. Hey bro, put the crack down thats the sound of a ringing guitar string. I tried to watch more, nope. Guys a good player and all but I think I was watching a vid of him and that Rhett Shill guy a couple months back supposedly picking out Shills best LP ever blah blah. It's a solid body mass production instrument. There are like 10,000 LP's and copies for sale on Reverb at any time. You got a nice guitar, not excalibur man. It didn't strike me as any more amazing than a number of great LPs I've heard before. Seems like a Heritage "not a sales job" sales job "oh they spent a year building it". I guess they carved it with a pocket knife. Weight relieved. Yuck. Slim taper. Yuck. Maybe I'm just being a negative jerk, that is entirely possible, but I can't breath listening to all the smoke blowing. What's next haunting mids? It's not bad just not as great as he is suggesting. Feel free to criticize my take.

individual bells^^. when i read this, i though he might have played a complex cord with lots of distortion or something, but no...

totally understand your rage, but you made me watch the vid, that's the only problem i got with your post.
Not giving a shit is the only way to get rid of those click bate addicts.

To be fair to the guy, he made something similiar with the Diezel VH4 and i am pretty sure he didn't get anything from them.

The one vid with the girl with the huge hangers, showed me what a creep that guy really is.
Her playing was actually below avarage, but somehow he got really excited.

This is a rewrite of my previous post for clarity. It bugs me that he claims it's not a sponsored video (8:12) when it appears that it is a sponsored video. At 2:22 he says, "Heritage didn't ask me to do this video, they just wanted to make a guitar that I like" giving the impression that the video is unbiased, even though they gave him the guitar he's touting. He goes on to say that while he did do some previous video work for Heritage, he had told them, "Don't pay me and don't give me a guitar....build me a guitar,” as if building him a custom guitar wasn’t payment :ROFLMAO:. And 8:22 to the end of the video is basically a Heritage commercial.

It seems to me that if he's reviewing a guitar that was given to him for other video work, that counts as sponsorship of the video — even if they didn't ask him to do it. At the very least it's misleading for folks who just assume he's some guitar pro who really really likes his Heritage guitar. And on the other hand, a few commenters here seemed to believe that the video was actually sponsored.

What's more, I think Tim Pierce understands the issue of impartiality. In the first 25 seconds of this video he talks about how he bought the pedal, so he is "Free" of "Expectations" from people at the company. He also weirdly claims the video is not a review and not a demo. WTF is it then?!

I'm sure everyone here knows there is a feature on YT where you can tell YT to not recommend a channel and it will never show up on your radar again. I've done this with several of these channels... and had forgotten about them until I see them posted here.

Glenn sucks. It’s funny you don’t see the correlation between getting multiple pages on this bullshit topic and Glenn getting 10 million hits flaming something.

Tim made some big claims in his video title. I thought the tone was decent, average LP tone, not the greatest LP tone ever. Show me on the Tim doll where you are hurting.

Glenn ive seen does videos reading and responding to all his hate mail, i think you should write him a very strongly worded letter expressing your dissatisfaction for his shittyness.. it will make you feel better telling that asshole off which you can then post here for us all to see, i get a good few minutes of entertainment, and glen makes his big $$$ from all the views. we ALL win.

Glenn is a genius!

Tim Pierce- Played on more major albums than people will ever even know, been in the business nearly 40 years, no one says a bad word about the guy and only speak highly of his professionalism and ability to deliver. Makes videos as a YouTuber offering his experience/information

Glen Fricker- Makes actual clickbait videos like “Pickups don’t matter” and built his name off feigning offense via shouting at the camera, while happily taking his viewers money to “review“ their mixes, which includes “constructive” criticism like “How about you don’t pick up a microphone until you learn how to sing?”

I can definitely see why some guys here prefer Fricker over Pierce. If you find your footing in life just shitting on other people’s work, you’ll never have the burden of having your own creative output critiqued and you can stay in your little safe space.

So you're saying that you don't care if TP isn't honest because everyone else isn't? ...And I don't know why you're claiming ignorance, you can read what I wrote and investigate yourself. The bottom line is the dude is claiming the video isn't sponsored even though the guitar was given to him.

It's not his creativity or talent, which I acknowledged. It's his stupid face and that he claims his video about his average LP isn't sponsored by the company that gave it to him.

So then you are agreeing with Tim on this being the greatest LP you've ever heard since he has recorded with more people than you?

He's all over the place man, self-righteouslty shitting on people who are allegedly shitting on his favorite studio gnome.
