This Was Fender's Plan All Along

This only applies in Europe.

I know it only applies to Europe. I'm just saying idk many stores there other than, like, Thomann, Andertons and the Dutch Axe Palace, so I can't really answer with certainty.

But given that you could find those brands in jungle Asia, I'm sure you also could in France, Germany and the Netherlands

Yeah, but it’s not going to affect American builders. Which is the point I was trying to make.

It's weird that all the youtube douche-fluencers are freaking out about it. Good clickbait I guess.
For reals..... It's not going to affect anyone really..... People who can afford these things are already wealthy and could afford to Buy them from a store here in the States or builders here.....

Nothing is stopping these wealthy well to do people from doing that :dunno:

I didn't realize John Suhr started as a master builder at Fender. But his guitars, for example, are different and distinctive enough to me to steer clear of this mess in Europe or anywhere else. I guess I need to read the law suite but wouldn't Suhr have to be building the guitars and marketing them in Europe for this to even be an issue? Same for Splawn or Friedman or anyone else. And if Thoman or Andertons sells Suhr Classic S guitars in Europe doesn't shouldn't make them a target I wouldn't think.

The whole thing is just really stupid if you ask me and makes Fender look like a cry baby (after all these years like Floyd was saying). It is almost analogous to say Marshall going after other amp builders 60 years later because their amp is sitting in a rectangular wooden box :dunno:

John Suhr was on 48th Street long before that.

He was making Pensa Suhrs in the 80s and selling them via Rudy’s (whose last name is Pensa).

^Good to know. Makes you wonder why Fender hired Suhr to begin with (if this was so damn important to them).

OK. Finally had time to watch that video @hellzington posted in his OP

NOW I understand.

And it can't fall under a statute of limitations because this time it is about copywrite (art) and not trademark. The court case in Germany was just something they could stick in their folder and say, "See?" The private equity firm (Servco Pacific) probably doesn't even care about the money as much as flexing their muscle on the "S" strat body style. They are hoping the little guys (Suhr is a repeated example with their "Classic S") will sue Fender to force this back into the courts/public eye but this time under copywrite law I'm assuming. So there could be years and years of legal battles the little guys probably cannot afford.

The case in Germany was about companies in China making strait up copy rip-offs of the Stratocaster. That's what they have in their folder now to say, "See?"

So yeah, this sucks a lot more than I originally was thinking. It really has nothing to do with Europe, so I apologize for that part. Thanks @hellzington

But its like Ford suing Chevy over making aerodynamic cars that have an engine in the front and wheel wells over 4 wheels and a steering wheel on the left hand side with a speedometer and a radio

Suhr and Anderson produce strat copies and sell significant amounts of them in Europe ?
Moreso Suhr, I'd say

Their Classic S model is pretty popular everywhere. They're not 1:1 Fender Strats in shape, but they look close enough that a judge might not be able to tell the difference at a glance lol

I'm not sure if Fender would take a go at their "Standard" and "Modern" superstrat styles, but if they did, then Anderson's fair and square in the crosshairs.
