First Boston album
Vai's 'Passion and Warfare'
Machine Head's 'Burn My Eyes'
Fates Warning - Perfect Symmetry
Derek Trucks tones
Govan's tones - Aristocrats debut

These days for me it's more about everything else making the guitars sound huge, rather than just the guitars themselves... if that makes any sense.

edit: Oops, forgot one.... Steve Salas tone on Sass Jordan's 'Rats' album.

Killswitch Engage has awesome guitar sounds
Metallica's "Black Album"
Anthrax "Among the Living"
Kiss It Goodbye "She Loves me, she loves me not"
Dillinger Escape Plan "Miss Machine"
Any AC/DC

All very different types of tone but it is what pulled me to it. Kind of a list by change of interests - probably too long haha.

Long list I know... but a decent but incomplete trail of how different guitar players and sounds have grabbed my attention over the years

Accept - balls to the wall was probably the first tone I heard that actually made me want a guitar tone then RATT - lay it down helped me focus on getting a tone (not that I have that tone   )

Now my tone is closest to lynch mob - for a million years if I had to compare

I guess for me my real watershed moment came when a fellow guitarist asked me what tone I was after ... to which I said I have no idea because no matter what I play through I sound like me. From that moment I have bought gear that gets me to the tone I think makes me sound best to me, and I completely LOVE the tone I have right now
