Better Days Comin' is a very well rounded package that has carried me through much this year
the 'making of' DVD that came with it shows Kips talents as a singer/producer/songwriter/guitarist
together with Reb, they are 2 cats who love music and it is infectious
these tracks follow 'Tin Soldier' and show the softer side of the band
'So Long China' is one we all sing along with in the car
Rod Morgenstein is a monster drummer, check out any of the Dixie Dregs or Dregs albums, bonus of a ripping Steve Morse on guitar...just great stuff. Happy to see Rod playing something other than a straight 4/4
There are some good songs on this cd for sure and I love Reb but I can't hear a song, seems like a lot of odd time signature exercises ,but with no underlying hook or melody
For me nothing memorable although technically brilliant no doubt
The prog element really works for me but I feel it would be more effective coupled with a strong melodic chorus. Overall though I really respect how they have evolved.
I wish they could mesh this type of prog-ishness with their more melodic other stuff for the chorus's for example, listened to the other tracks and none got my juices flowing like this one. Grows on you...the other stuff was that 4/4 more straight rock stuff. I'm more of a Prog hard rock guy though...Rat Race was cool too though more straight ahead.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jp57jqo ... 0xl9x8BhUM
