It's all what you choose to listen to
COC, Crowbar, and a lot of the NOLA bands are kicking ass, which is what I grew up with. Down's last release EP's were solid as fuck.

On another note Jake E Lee is kicking ass on a different front.

Lamb of God is solid too.

Look across the pond - Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland and Germany got it going on.

I agree, listen to something different then jump back in. I go in waves. I'll listen to Hendrix, then I'll be all 80s thrash, then Skynrd, etc. I notice if I go in and out of different genres, I appreciate each thing they bring to the table.

its ok, rock and metal had a good 50+ year run which we forever can go back and enjoy. theres plenty good stuff going on in other genres to keep me occupied right now

Agreed. Different ears over there and next level creativity.

Same here, mate. If it gets stale, move on and come back when it sounds / feels fresh again.

The SNIPS bass player wasn't kidding.

That song could easily fit into a Tribal Tech album. Same chords, very-similar bass playing to Gary Willis and very-similar lead guitar to Scott Henderson. Only the keyboards are missing.
