Today's Mozterfest. An EPIC FAIL.

So...back in august I signed up my band Evil Epitome to play what was supposed to be a huge 3 day METAL festival in the Mojave desert.

We were told there was a lot of advertising, and there were expected to be 10,000 people at least, a day there. This was NOT a pay for play, but we were give tickets to sell if we wanted to. We sold a few but did NOT turn in the money. Very glad...as I returned the money to the people today. Read on...

So off we went this morning, 130 miles each way, $110 in gas spent (for round trip), I didn't go to the Amp Show, and when we arrived, ...we saw this:

There was no one there. No power. No People. Just a stage in the middle of nothing. No bathrooms, no vendors, no food, no water. Nothing. Just another band camping out because they drove even further than we did and had spent the night.
The Promoter was nowhere in sight. Supposedly he was running late and was bringing a Generator and a PA. Late on a 3 day Festival on Day 2?
There weren't even any signs pointing to the event. Only one small sign on this dirt road off the highway...

Wow. Just, wow. Mojo sent your way. I thought people were better than that. I really hope you and everyone involved get a phonecall in upcoming days with a thorough apology and compensation. Something tells me you will get neither though... would be nice.

I remember ten years ago they busted some guy in the Bay Area doing promotor scams. I forgot how exactly the scam went but they get a big act on the label or claim a big act will come to town, then get a bunch of local acts to sign on, pre sell the tickets, collect money then split.

Recently I have read about these types of scams making a comeback.
