HAM radio offers a satisfying compromise. Just lookit the size of the jewel lights on that baby. Without toggelz you cannot even turn gear on to use knobs.
Rottweiler throws down the gauntlet with the mighty rotary switch.
I'm not sure why I'm not surprised you are a HAM guy. I was studying for my exam then covid hit and I didn't want to take a test with a mask on so I never got my technician license. I still love to listen to ham transmissions especially 20 meter international and the 80 meter good ol boy network. I had a yaesu ft101 and a dipole but I sold the radio. All I have right now is a Galaxy 259 cb and a viking antenna tuner. You should see the knobs on that bad boy. I need to pull my stuff back out now that living area is complete...

Yeah back before cellphones, radio was big. Unfortunately, I don't tune in much anymore. It is more fun to talk to people who you know. Art Bell got his start by being an entertaining Ham op. I even set my radios up next to my hobby table but I hardly build models anymore. I think I liked building models back then because it was something to do with my sons. Now they are in their 20s. I pushed my wife and sons through to their general class about 15 years ago. When my son tested for his ETN in the Navy, he called to tell me a lot of the questions were taken directly from the tech and general tests.
I guess I'm just happy that I am practicing and playing guitar everyday again. I've had a rough few years with health and getting back into guitar has been a great thing to focus on.
Thanks to @Techdeath lessons I've got some good stuff to work on!
