 Thanks gents
Really liking the results, sounds better at tv volumes also, when the house is asleep.

Damn that sounds bad ass... I swear your vids always make me want new amps ;) So what would you choose if you had to pick between the Dmoll and Butterslax?

Haha I usually tend to dial in similar like we all do right?
If I had to pick, it would be tough. They both can do clean to scream. The butterslax would prob be the better live application. The Diezel prob better for recording. But each could do either with ease. The slax just gets so ridiculously loud and the big ass cab I got with it can literally make my inner ear vibrate, it just slices through with such feel and grind. The lows or lowmids grind also which makes it so much different from diezels.
But with the Diezel I'm Really digging the boosted tones right now, its addicting. Also SUPER QUIET. Like can't barely hear shit with the od808 on, gate was barely on, more for static and little line/pickup noise.

The clips sound great!!!
The settings are real similar to where I put mine, I also use a Maxon but a 808x (I need to try the green one one day)
You still have the Fortin Grind? I had 2 and miss them, lol they were awesome with DMoll

Love my od808, it will always stay. I'm actually on the waiting list for a v2 fortin grind, for the dmoll specifically, I like it's got more headroom with 9v now. Supposed to be quieter also

Sounds killer. I just tried those settings and they work well.

How's that Para EQ?

Whats different in V2? I may put myself on the list as well. Edit: found it.

the boosted clip sounded great

I owned a dmoll but couldn't get it to sound like you did!

I run pretty similar settings on my Herbert. I also run my Maxon OD9 at the same exact settings. Diezels are touchy with boosts, too much and they become overly compressed and sound "small." Not enough boost and you loose that modern metal boosted palm mute low end.

Thanks!
Para eq is neat takes lots of time. Super quiet. It can do a lot.

I'd bet the dmoll and Herbert aren't that different at the end of the day minus the power section. But I read on the Diezel site saying it's the same voicing and it's Herbert's "little brother." It was a nice start into the Diezel world for me though. I still wanna try the other models for sure someday. But I'm not thinking results will be night and day in the Diezel camp, but what do I know

I've read the same thing. The Herbert has this sub low end that is very unique, I don't know if the Dmoll has that or not since I've never owned anything other than the Herbert/VH4/Hagen. But yeah, you can without a doubt tell the Dmoll was modeled around the Herbert, which is awesome.

I'd also like to try a Fortin Grind pedal as a boost for mine, but haven't bought one yet.

Yes, I've gotten to AB a Herbert and Dmoll and agree about the little brother description. The Herbert was like the Dmoll but with a lot more horsepower, sounded more robust and punchy.

I have a Fortin Grind. It would probably work great with a Herbert. I used it once with a VH4 and it worked extremely well with that, but for what the Grind does I actually prefer my Airis Savage and Protodrive over the Grind. I'm debating whether I wanna keep it or not

^ is the airis savage badass? I've thought about picking one up. Looks cool. You like it over the grind?

Yeah the Savage and Cusack Screamer V2 are my 2 favorite overdrive pedals at the moment. I also love my Thorpy Gunshot, but that's not well suited for modern metal. The Savage and Protodrive can both get at least as much tightness and attack of the grind, but retain more low end and thickness, and can get a lot more saturated and gritty if needed

Thanks for the info, the savage drive is on my radar

Congrats for the great tone (boosted D-Moll) !
I somehow regret that I have got rid of mine. When I listen to your sound I think I should have kept it longer and continue doing some more tweaking.
Enjoy your great sound:rock:

Talk about the gunshot and metal. I know it wont do the tight bottom rythym thing but what about liquid metal leads?

It can work quite well for that in the right set-up. I wouldn't use it though in front of an amp that's too compressed or high gain. It's not the most transparent od pedaI, but still one of my favorites. I would still though for "liquid metal leads" prefer the Savage or Screamer V2 (especially for fast licks where you want to hear clarity in all the notes and the attack of them) and also the Mad Professor Sky Blue. The Sky Blue has this awesome velvety sound and texture to the notes that I never heard in any other od pedal. It works great for shreddy leads too (I think a little better than the gunshot), but really excels in more slow, soulful type leads with a lot of vibrato

Also, I remember you said you didn't like the way the Savage looks, but Rick from Airis seems to be pretty flexible with other visual designs as well (he's done many others and often will have them with video game theme aesthetics which look kinda funny), and I'm sure he'd be willing to make it in such a design that would probably be okay for you. Just thought I'd mention that since you said it looked ugly and I don't think you should miss out on a pedal that could potentially be what you're looking for just because it looks ugly to you

The Savage, Screamer V2, and Sky Blue are definitely my 3 favorites for leads out of the countless od pedals I've tried and owned

Just ordered a new savage drive off a USA seller on reverb. Can't wait, and my dual rec gets back from Mesa tomorrow, so I bet this pedal will be cool with that also

Thanks! Will look at savage again also.

Did you get your dual Rec modded there by Mike b?
