I think it comes down to what you learned on and tones you went for early on. If you had been a die hard mesa / peavey guy and loved 6l6's(like myself).. the marshalls sounded thin in comparison. Although, it could be said that the Marshall sits better in the mix and makes for a better overall amplifier for recording in many situations.

I'll never forget a friend of mine growing up had a 1x12 jcm 800 combo... I had a warp 7 half stack.. I learned a lot from jamming with TC. He would swamp my 150 watt half stack and sound amazing doing it.. Thats also when I learned that knowing every song on ride the lightning and master of puppets didn't mean you knew wtf you were doing on a blues jam.. train wreck on my part , lol.
So true. My 2C+, I add more upper mids to get more cut. My 2204 gets more thick low end from my boost pedal. If only the Mesa/Marshall combination existed lol..

Do you run the Mark IIC+ at the same time as the JCM 800 2204?

The last thing we need is another thread about Marshalls!!!!

Wait......

OOPS

Marshall? They make bluetooth speakers or something for iphones right?

Brands like Marshall, Fender and Gibson will always be the go to brands of many. So many of us listened to their sounds on albums that we loved and when you're just learning of course you want to emulate your heros so naturally that's what we see and want. It's only later on after you've tried them and realised the equipment is only half the story and that talent has a huge part to play then you start to find your own voice.

I've played through Marshalls, fenders, egnaters, Diezels before settling with Hughes and Kettner, not because it sounds like a hot rodded Marshall but because it sounds like the guitar sound in my head that I've always wanted and translates what my fingers do into something I like hearing, whether the crowd like it is a matter of taste.

NMV Marshall's is the only real Marshall tone for my taste .
If i want MV tones my Soldano smokes it straight up in spades without any pedals needed .
But for the win i'll take a Soldano and Marshall in stereo , best of both worlds imo .

I plugged my phone into one last week at best buy and it sounded killer , nice and loud with separate bass and treble . If I used that type of device with my phone more often I would have bought one
