Tool fans

I appreciate their musicianship but I really don't care for 10,000 days. I will check out their new stuff when it drops, but I am not going to be waiting in line for the album on release date. YMMV.

Sorry, I really don’t know, but with the popularity of Friedman amps, I would have to assume yes.

If you take a listen to "The Pot" off 10,000 Days, that riff towards the end of the tune might be one of the best high gain tones ever. IMO.
But, to be fair, that tone is like 5 amps mixed together. But DAMN it sounds killer.

I just listened to it (never heard the song before), tone is cool...clear and dry sounding.

I jam along to The Pot at least once a month just so I can rock out to that riff! Only song I really listen to on the album. Kind of fell off of the Tool bandwagon after Undertow.

I personally can't wait for the new album to drop.

I had a chance to see them on stage a couple of times, but this year I'll make an effort to attend one of their shows before they can no longer deliver it live.

As far as Adam's rig, he sounds like himself no matter what he plays.

They've played some of the new stuff live. Loooong meandering songs. Not my preference.

At least live, his rig is pretty much the same. VH4/Mesa 4/12 and Marshall/1960. I think the Diezel may now be all Silverface, though I wonder if he still uses the blue face in the studio.

Same main live rig, blueface + silverface + superbass/lead.

Oh you're right, the blueface and silverface (and the Marshall) all on stage.

I do love his tone.

Silverface you see is a backup to the blueface, he does not run all three at the same time. Adam just does not care for the "new" silverface circuit.

He was in the Guitar Magazine that I got today. VH4's. one has a modded preamp. I think they said they blended some other amps in here and there. I dont have the article in front of me but if you pickup this month's issue it has all that info. I've never been a fan. I saw them at lollapalooza when they first game out but I was so drunk I dont remember their set which is shame. I have found appreciation for a lot of bands after seeing them live.

Needs more Adam IMO but the outro is pretty badass for sure. Enjoy.

It was Guitar World. I just got it yesterday it has a tab from In Flames in it. I'm at work but I cant remember who is on the cover. I will setup a reminder to get me to pick it up when I get home.

I'm pretty let down with this one. I will say the drumming is amazing and Maynard is bringing some new ideas to the table he hasn't done in Tool (his pitch is sounding more similar to the latest Perfect Circle), but it's not enough to make up for the overly rehashed riffs and monotonous vibe. They could've cut the song in half and it would've been better. My overall takeaway is it's nothing they haven't done before (minus Maynard's vocal stuff) and done better. I'll give the album a shot once it drops because I didn't like Lateralus at first because I thought it drug out too much too, but I grew to like it.

I haven't listened yet. FWIW, every Tool album except Opiate took multiple listens before I "got" it and really started to groove with it. I suspect this will be no different, though it remains to be seen how hard I get into it.

Tool is desecrating their own memorial during their own lifetime.

It's a shame, but it's their decision. I do not get why they have to show to the world that they've run out of new ideas.

I'm thankful for the first 4 Tool albums.

I have to say I enjoyed the new track. I put on a nice set of headphones and cranked the volume a bit. It reminds me of the Lateralus album alot. I'm looking forward to the rest of this one.

I just listened to the track with some good headphones. I will preface this by saying between 93-04, I was the biggest Tool fan you could possibly ever meet. I was a true fanboy. I guess I started going in a different way musically, but I still really love those first 3 albums a lot.

This song, I don't feel it at all. There is no "magic" like those old songs had. It feels so paint-by-numbers and just slogging through the motions. Even on first listen, I could predict his drum fills, what was coming next... What is up with his guitar tone in this song? I guess he was going for a real guttaral tone but man, it sounds like he forgot to turn up his tone knob and recorded with a Pignose amp. It almost sounds like a band trying to sound like Tool. I do still look forward to hearing the album but I hope this is not a sign of things to come.

These things happen. People like what they like but for me the only way i could be a Tool fan again is if they went back to their roots which does not seem like something that would happen.
