that reminds me of when my daughter nicked my guitar... i got really mad inside and then realized i was having a strange reaction. it is a tele relic...and i was mad there was a nick on it...

gibsons are also known for headstocks breaking at that same weak point. i have a charvel that does not have the common wood leuve (sp?) for neck reinforcement on angled headstocks.

I believe volute is the word you're looking for. :)

Good news! My guys at the shop tell me it's no big thing and once they get it back together it'll be stronger than before.

I just have to wait a couple of weeks for it. :aww:
Nice work, and that bit about it being stronger once repaired than before is true. It's just whether or not it 'feels' the same. If it doesn't, just spring for a new neck, a tech can have that thing back in play in no time at all. Having kids myself, I have my axes on wallmount Hercules hooks, or in their cases tucked away, what you've gone through is something I've always feared...

Mojo sent.

Peace,
V. :salute:

Ha! No yelling or beating or anything, as far as she knows, it's fine. She'd have a meltdown if she knew the truth and would likely go try to buy me a new one. At the end of the day, it's just a hunk of wood. I don't lose my religion when stuff gets messed up, it's just stuff. Expensive stuff, but stuff.
Bless your heart!!!! You are a wonderful Dad my man!!!!

Thanks everyone for the kind thoughts, I truly appreciate it!

I don't think the repair will mess with the feel much as the crack is at the very top of the neck and away from the fretboard. I think all will be good. Definitely putting it back in it's safe place and not out in the open when I get it back!

Looks like you're taking that $$$ out of her college fund for a new guitar! :D

Just to be fair, you're probably gonna have to smash a few home decorations with a hammer. :)
