ok this is more like a survey,..i'm looking to see what you play, amp wise, what kind of music, and where is your treble set at,not worried about any other eq setting ,..just the treble thanks! ...kirk

I usually run the treble anywhere from 12:00 to 3:00 depending on which amp im playing.

Yeah lot's of variables go into this one(guitar wood, pickups, amp, gain setting, etc).

But for my guitars and what I play I usually have the treble at noon, and tweak with the presence control and mic position.

But which channel on the amp though?

I have a Mesa/Boogie MarkIV. It has three amp channels- Rhythm 1, Rhythm 2, and Lead.

I change the treble setting for both Rhythm 1 & 2 frequently. I use them for clean tones and "dirty-clean" tones, for all sorts of music.

The Lead channel is set up for a thrash metal sound. I set the treble to 9, as this accentuates the amount of gain in the preamp circuit, and enhances the crunchy sound. There is also a graphic EQ located after the preamp, that has a treble band- 6.6kHz. I have it set to a few millimetres above the centre line.
I can darken the sound by using the tone control on my guitar.

I also have a Marshall JCM 800- but as I'm getting new speakers the treble setting will change, so I can't post that yet.

I tend to put everything at 12 o'clock and work from there, but treble rarely gets moved in any direction. Sometimes I'll tweak it a bit, but somewhere between 11 and 1 o'clock is the norm.

I play modern metal, with my VHT Ultra Lead I usually have the treble set around 1 o'clock.

Like 2 o clock (crunch channel) for me on the JSX. Or 7 for the Showman (cause it has numbers on the knobs).

Given that potentiometer tapers and tolerance vary wildly aside from obvious circuit differences, i believe that using the numbers on the amplifier face to determine ANYTHING other than remembering where the dial was set when you dialed in your favorite sound is foolish.

I set my treble right between audilbly "soft" and "sharp".

Very dependent on the amp. But, for some reason having he treble at 1 O'Clock works for me on my Peters and my Mesa Electra Dyne. Just a coincidence I'm sure. The bass and mids are nowhere near the same setting.

It seems like unless I have a really dark amp I run it around 9-11 oclock. I also tend to keep my presence 9 or lower.

My rectos' treble is set at around 12:30, and My peavey is at 2:00, my Framus is at 10:00, and my .50 caliber + is set to 5.

i only ask this question because mr fja says that we are all kids playing in our rooms if we turn the treble down because we need all the treble to cut through a live band sound ,so if we turn the treble down we must not be professional players,...personally i play what i build and i turn my treble down at rehearsal hall and at live gigs,i like having more than i need, and almost always dont need more to cut through, just thought it was a ridiculous thing to say and you guys all proved that it was,one out of 13 plays with the treble cranked ,..thanks guys!

On a Marshall type circuit, treble and presence in the 2:00 range most of the time. Mids below 10:00.

I play metal so, most of the time I have my treble is set high to get cut and clarity...when using humbuckers or strats  I use Marshall Super Leads (stock or modded), Peavey 5150 and Cameron CCV.

I have a Marshall Super Lead like Dave but mine is a reissue and they are known to be bright and trebley anyway. I have my treble at 11:00 but adjust as needed. I've heard of people putting their treble at almost zero on a Super Lead. :)

Chiming in also about Marshalls- although dependent on the speakers, I tend to set the treble at about 12 o'clock or lower, in comparison to the MarkIV where I crank the treble right up.

just under 5 (noon).
presence on mine is all the way down to 1 though lol. (on a 1-10 scale)

Lets hear something?

You can make that 2 out of 13....my treble and presence are cranked, vol is usually 8.
