I’ve been amassing speakers for a while, this weekend I tried out and recorded a bunch.
If your interested you can check out the clips here.

5 different cabs identified in the file name
Mesa Traditional 412
Diezel FL412
Wizard 412
Port City 2x12
Mesa Thiele

PRS SAS re-amped with MW1 into Diezel Schmidt GLKT77’s into each cab / speaker.
Amp setting / volume are the same for each speaker.
Part 1 Ch1 clean strumming / plucking
Part 2 Ch2 crunch
Part 3 Ch3 crush
Mic is a single SM57 placed precisely at the edge of the dust cap of each speaker, straight on against the grill cloth.
Your hearing the mic only - No EQ or effects applied.

I think they sound a lot more similar that I thought they would be or have heard in a lot of other comparisons.

I liked the 90’s Greenback, both Heritage G12-30’s, Old G12T75, Heritage G12-65, EVM-12L, V30 and CL80’s
Almost everything seems to have something about it that’s unique, sounds great and has its applications
Hard to choose.

I left the Wizard cab loaded with the heritages bottom G12H-30 55hz & top G12H-30 75Hz.
Like the combo for a contrast to V30 cabs. Sounds like classic rock in the room , bright but still musical.
Beautiful for cleans and light crunch too.

The all V30 Mesa and Diezel cabs sound great doing their thing as does the Mesa Thiele with EVM12L.
The FL diezel is great under the mic, IMO.

Let me know below what you think....

Myself,
I’m still not sure what to keep .. big problems!
I like what I hear in the CL80 and the old vented G12T-75
Today anyway :D
I’m Wondering about mixing the CL80 or G12T75's with V30’s in a Diezel FL412.
Any experience mixing these two??

thanks for this

will listen over proper monitors later.

one reason they are more similar than not is the clips were all captured with sm57 which definitely colors the sound in a particular way

No Problem,
Just thought I'd put them up here in case it helps someone else.
It could be done so many different ways, I just wanted to put the amp in a neutral setting and let her rip to hear the actual differences instead of tweaking for each speaker as many have done.
So it's kind of like a base tone.

Its odd , when I listen on my monitors, especially the big ones, I like the Wizard cab G12H30 75hz the most, they seem 3D like, closely followed by the Diezel Chinese V30.
On my iphone or with the apple earbuds they sounds vastly different and I like the Port City with CL80's, G12-65's as well as the Mesa with V30's.. and I cant stand the G12H30 75 Hz.. its so hashy

It seems that, each playback speaker responds different to the unique pokey distortion frequencies inherent in each guitar speaker, this majorly effects your preception of how pleasing the sound is.
Those differences are very pronounced with the guitar alone like this.
Unfortunately, It seems to make almost as much difference as the speaker recorded

Old T75s with the vents are highly underrated. Great speakers.

I liked the Mesa Trad V30, the FL Diezel V30 and the CL80 best in your clips.

Middle ground for me were the GB's and 65's.

I didn't at all like the GH30, EV12 or GT75.

Great comparison, well done. If I understand correctly, the clip entitled "Schmidt-Wizard-V30-Mesa" is a Wizard 4x12 with Mesa V30s ? Then later you swapped the two G12H30 variants into the Wiz cab, recorded that, and left it that way ?

My favorites are V30 Mesa Traditional 4x12 and the G12-65 one.

Thanks man.
You’ve got it right.
What I had when I started was a wizard cab with
Top -Mesa V30’s
Bottom - G12H-30 55hz Heritage

For the test I swapped out the V30’s in the top for a pair of G12H-30 75hz Heritages that I had sitting around to go in that cab specifically.
I’m still not sure if I’m sold on the G12H30 75 Hz heritages.
They’re amazing for clean and crunch tones , a little hairy and not as focused with high gain.
The 75hz version is way different than the 55 hz version.
Gonna leave it for a while and see how it sits.

The Mesa cab has been with me for years and years. Just a great cab.
I know it well, so I miked the best speaker too.
