Sounds good. Man, the returned hype of passive pickups had me try some for a bit, then I switched back to EMGs to compare and will never go back to passive again.

Sounded really good, man!

I'm surprised you think the BW sounds soft. I always thought that pickup has a little too much attack for my taste at times. Much more than the EMG 81, which I also love, BTW. I do love the BW, but I think for high-output Ceramic monsters, the 500T is my favorite. But the BW is a close second, and I find it much sharper, leaner, and more attacky than the 500T.

I do like a bunch of passives but I understand, I’m definitely a emg guy

Yeah total opposite for me, just dead and fluffy soft feeling. Sounds kind of bloated. I think this is my only guitar that’s non Gibson scale, maybe that has something to do with it, palm mutes just have that dumpy kind of fat and mushy thing going

That's super interesting! I gues we perceive it differently. Are you running it with 500K pots? I was forced to run mine with a 250K volume in the past. This time around, it was one of the only times that I left the tone pot connected on my guitar. Not because I used it or I ever rolled it down, but just so that I could load the pickup a bit more to soften it up a bit.

But if you're comparing it to EMG's, yeah, every passive is going to appear fatter and more bloated.

Each to his own. I definitely think it at least records well. I can hear it in your clip!

yeah people seem to have completely different views on pickups more so than any other piece of gear id say, im guessing that must come down to ones pick attack. this has just a single 500k volume, i too have the tone knob on a bunch of my guitars disconnected for that extra punch. i listened to this again today in my truck and it does sound pretty good for the hour i spent on it total, with a boost and a few tweaks i could probably get it sounding real good, definitely sounds like a recto. maybe i will keep it in there for the time being

That looks killer with the pickguard!

I dunno, man. I guess the in-the-room experience is different. I love the Black Winter myself, but I also like EMG 81's.
