I have acquired one of each and have been going back and forth and I think I like the Rev G a bit better. I was fully expecting for the RI to be incredible and it is very good but it’s not knocking this Rev g out by any means. In the next few days I’ll get my recording stuff back to set up and do a few clips but for now just this bad pic

Just did this comparison yesterday. The reissue is very good, has a tighter low end response but that wasn't enough to call it. The two rev G I own sound killer. Made a few changes to one that sound great to my ear. Taking it into the factory for a checkup and other parts. Remember to blend the presence on the unelected channel/it is active at all times and effects to tones as you dial in.

Yeah I brought my 90s Reissue (Dual) over to Exo-Metal's place yesterday to compare against his Rev G Triple and two Rev G Duals. He also had a Reissue Triple a while back.

Neither one of use liked the Reissue Triple and the Reissue Dual is noticeably better. I prefer the tighter low end on the Reissue Dual compared to the Rev Gs. The Gs are great. A little looser, a little more saturation. It's a toss up for for me, but I do like the tighter feel of the Reissue.

You two have to qualify though....you are both using RED modern only. Many on here use Orange/Modern. They are two very different sounds. On the reissue amps, the Red is VERY good and very close to as good as the Orange/Modern. That is the biggest difference in these new reissues I notice. In the 4 Gs I've owned (2 Duals, 2 Triples) the Red modern are very sterile/flat sounding compared to orange/modern.
I suspect that both of @Exo-metal G Duals 'might' have had partial C mods, since what the C mod does is improve on the Red channel mostly. Since he reports that his Red is killer that would explain a lot.

My comparisons so far are mostly red modern 🤷‍♂️ but I haven’t dived too deep into it yet to make a definitive opinion one way or another

Interesting. We know all amps vary; however the 2 Dual Gs I had, the low mid bloat was too much even boosted. Didn't care for it. The Red was sterile and flat in both amps. The Triples, much better without the bloat but the red was still sterile compared to the orange/modern. This reissue to my ears is the best recto I've played, over those Gs, 2 F triples, and a C Dual.

We tried each amp in every configuration/channel cloning. We both preferred red/modern boosted with an 808 on each amp. Orange and Orange cloned to Modern or Modern with Orange cloned to Modern didn't do it for either of us—but I can see why people like those. Both Triples (Rev G and Reissue) sounded awful.

I took a look inside all the amps and didn't notice any mods other than the all black G had a bias mod. Ted also replaced the Red channel's gain pot with 1M/4700pF and it's running KT66s now. But I played the amp before that was done and after.

The Triple RI is even tighter than the Dual, what didn’t you like about it?

Both the Reissue Triple and Rev G Triple sounded flat and lifeless. Yes, slightly tighter than the Duals, but lacked their saturation and growl. The Triples just sounded dull. I'm leaning toward the Reissue Dual as my favorite.

Agreed, the red on the RI is greatly improved and the best of all Rectos.
Also agreed that it’s the best Recto I’ve played as well, brilliant amp.

Me too, I don’t even need the vintage option.
Although I do dig me some “tube” toanz

I have kemper profiles of orange/vintage tones that I use all the time, especially as a platform for a specific style of boost.

My last demo i posted in the member clips was 100% orange channel

Triples are definitely tighter and a tad more scooped.

Nice, and that was some great tone. I’ve been digging more lower gain, less scooped tones on my HRG RI lately, I’ll have to give vintage mode another shot.
