True Republicans.....needed in here v

I will make this quick. I used to be a Democrat. I grew up a Democrat. My parents and most of my family were Democrat. I switched parties recently (over the past 10-15 year) as I became disillusioned with what they REALLY stood for. The more research I did, the more it became clear that I have been a Republican for a long time. My Grandfather was a Republican. I'm not a Trumper and don't own a MAGA hat.. I DO believe he had the right idea and I liked the fact that he had no donors in his ear and wanted to run the country like a business

But here is one thing I also liked about the Republican creed. We take the high road. We respect all citizens. We care about the future of our Country. We are tolerant. We seek the truth. We are conservative in nature.

But we don't talk down to Democrats or call them names because then we are not at the level we should be. We are better than that. Lets carry ourselves as such. You don't have to agree. I'm just throwing that out there.

Peace and Love Brothers and Sisters ❤️ ? ❤️ ?

This brings up a good point of what makes someone a Republican these days? The last election I voted in I voted for Trump. Does that alone make me a republican? I liked that he stood for something and I liked what it was that he was standing for.
He seemed to lose his way during the second election and gave in to shit slinging instead of campaigning so he lost my vote.
Neither party is perfect but it seems like the lines are starting to blur, especially when people only focus on the extremes of both sides

I originally was a member here for a number of months before I came out as a fiscally conservative Democrat.
Some members I'd gotten chatty with immediately turned.
And then folks like Picasso started piling on.

At that point it became "When in Rome.......... "

(in real life I'm the nicest guy in the world)

Huh? You think all of these attributes are party specific?

The entire "two party system" is a joke.

Anyone with an IQ above 98.6 understands.. the same agenda gets advanced, no matter who is in office.

:ROFLMAO:
Yes. If there was/is a distinction it appears to me more "establishment vs populist". And grifters fighting over the graft.

Wealth disparity among other things are great fodder for the next demagogue. The ink of alleged partisan principles as remembered even 50 yrs ago has long faded and washed away. What was left morphed into the greatest syndicate of criminals the new millenium has ever known in USA govt.

"The arc of the moral universe is long but it bends towards justice." I found that MLK Jr statement striking the first time I read it many years ago. It gives me peace and empathy to remember not to hold the citizens completely responsible for the acts of thier leaders. Allegedly in this country, elected leaders.

While many allow themselves to be sucked into the partisan fray and throw invective piles of shit at their nemeses (and each other), the criminals silently gain ground.

Destruction from within.

Happy to be an old piece of shit that won't live long enough to see the worst of it.

Sad for the next generation(s) that are left to cope with what's coming if course isn't changed.

Grateful for what life has allowed me to the present, but sad my kids, grandkids, and great grand kids may not be able to enjoy the same things I did.

These people will be high-fiving while they eat crickets in a FEMA camp, as long as the guards tell them Trump is in prison.

I feel mostly like you do, although I was never a democrat. My parents were back when democrats weren't insane. I have been conservative as long as I can remember and was politically aware. I am NOT a republican. Yes I voted for Trump ( as if there was a choice.. Hillary... Biden.... Fuck that shit) and I agree with many of his policies and think we were all better off during his 4 years than we were before or now. That said, Trump is a supreme douche with a big mouth and a big ego and I think he would say or do anything to win. And I think he would sell us all out if it was politically expedient. I also think his big stupid fucking mouth fucked us all by getting Biden elected. If he had handled the covid thing like a normal human and hadn't acted like such a fucking retard during that debate he wouldn't have lost the election. Hell, my buddy, the militant union, anti-capitalist commie was going to vote for him because he couldn't bring himself to vote for Biden, but then the debate happened and he said fuck it and didn't vote at all.

I grew up in Arnold and currently live in rural southern Jeffco. I have voted for democrats down here because they stood for things I stand for. Gun rights, less government, less taxes, being self sufficient, strong foreign policy, etc.. I voted for Kander, I voted for Nixon and I repeatedly voted for Belinda Harris as well as her son Ben. Democrats like that seem to be silent or non existent today.
