In my opinion the higher gain channel of the TJ is not only better than any previous uber but way more varied. If you set the eqs on an Rev. Blue the same as a TJ to get a similar tone, that won't work. They do not react or sound the same. The Master controls -depth and presence hugely affect the tone but the way I hear it and my friends the TJ crushes the Rev blue.
With both amps on ch2 The tj is tighter and has more punch, it's brighter and has more cut for a band situation, less compressed and clearer sounding gain and is more pissed off sounding. It's also a louder amp, the controls are more responsive too, the master depth and pres adds more versatility for other tones and ch1 has some nice tones.
My rev blue is darker and more saturated, more sag and loose feeling, more compressed and little but smoother gain. I agree both amps don't sound exactly the same but I think the tj sounds better an will cure the issues some people had an why they don't like the past ubers.
It still sounds like a uber but the feel is better and it can do alot more now than It could before.
That's what I hear when I compare them, most complaints from people have been that the uber is really loose and muddy and I can't say that about the tj. I've seen lots of complaints that the past ubers was 1 trick ponys and that can't be said anymore. The channel volumes are better balanced now.
I'm no expert and there's plenty of people that know more about tone than me.
I finally played ne yesterday and pretty much agree 100% with this post!
I played it through a H&K vintage 30 slant cab... I really felt it was a totaly diff amp wise from the other uber versions...
The feel of the amp when cranked up compressed nicely and the over all voicing, pick attack , punch and cut it had totaly reminded me of a Marshall JMP 2003 with a shit load of gain and aggression to some degree. I could tell in seconds that this was going to signifigantly better in a band situation over the blue which IMO sucked ass in a band mix unless a micing and monitoring were part of the stage set up (We play loud!)
It's now on layaway... LOL!
Thanks guys...
