uh oh 8.7 Russia quake = Tsunami warning in Hawaii

10 minutes from impact and varied reports of a 3 foot wave riding on the ocean surface at 300-500mph😳

the crater is Diamond Head and Waikiki and the Honolulu Airport could get hammered.

The Weather Channel is saying it likely won't be 1 or 2 big waves like what happened in SE Asia/Indian ocean in 2004 or whenever but more like 3-5 foot waves over an extended period of time. He said movement in the Pacific for days. Hope it is nothing too devastating.

Having sailed the Pacific, & Indian Oceans and the Gulf of Tonkin & Persian Gulf i can say the Oceans are vast.
Japan seems to get hit alot as far as Tsunami's.
 
Well I got a HELL of a lot of wiring to redo over the next few days. Better safe than sorry, and I guess it was time to clean up some of those wires anyway, but damn....Don't expect to record anything anytime soon

Glad to hear we have no major damage reports, at least not that I've heard.


Japan, like the rest of that region, sits on the edge of a tectonic plate. It is part of the Ring of Fire. And yes, oceans are vast. Tsunamis don't care.

I'm happy that things weren't as bad as 2004 and 2011 for all you coastal and island inhabitants. It's about time people got a break.:2thumbsup:
 
Ft. Weaver Rd. was jam backed with people evacuating Ewa Beach last night.

Tsunami zone ends 1 house away at the end of my street.

Wife was stuck over 2 hrs in traffic getting out of Ala Moana trying to get home.
 
Of course Kalanianaole highway was all BBQs like when there's fireworks. One of our sound crews was working Waikiki and only got the ok to packup right before the insanity that turned kakaako into a parking lot. I saw some of the crazy stuff from Ewa Beach on the news. Makapuu lookout even had tents and grills before dark
