WAAY too high. That price for a power amp, is reserved for the vintage VHT stuff.
The S400 is a better unit anyway; IMO.

I enjoy seeing them; discussing them and then banter on prices. 500 bucks or 5 million bucks. Just the comment “S400 is a better unit anyway“ is worth the post. It makes us go back and look why….

I'm sure the 500 is amazing....just not sure it's better than the 400, which is a simper circuit. Simpler usually sounds better. Guys that own both prefer the 400 it seems. But the 500 is harder to find.
And, that price is probably on time....since I was reminded that the VHT 2150/2100 can go for 4K today.

I got mine for even cheaper from Psychodave maybe 9 yrs ago....but it needed a little cap work. Still, 200 later and it was almost cracking my windows....not even kidding lol
