One is a 5150 and Maxon OD808. The other is the Fractal 6160 and TS808 (the Fractal Maxon pedal doesn't sound right to me?)

Both into a Marshall 1960AV

B is quieter I guess. So you'll have to account for that. Sorry.

Oh and lots of claims tonight so also sorry.

It could be because of the recording, but the mids seem off in the second one, so im gonna say A is the real amp and B is the modeler.

Could totally be wrong, but meh, i like these types of comparisons.

Redid this. Listening back in better headphones, I didn't really like one of those clips. Maybe these are better. Settings on the actual amp did not change

I'm a goof and didn't do the riffs in the same order ughhhh

Hmm, based on the new clips its closer but i'm gonna stick with A is the real amp and B is the modeler

My reasoning is that modelers tend to dial in extra midrange to make them seem more"warm" and tube-like to first time players, and clip B definitely has more low mids

Could be completely off base, but that's my thoughts. Both sound quite good.

So first post, A was the amp and B was the Fractal. Listening back to it, the Fractal sounded weird.

Second set, I redid the Fractal T/M/B and presence/resonance setting and then flipped the order of the clips. A was the Fractal and B was the amp.

The 5150 is the opposite of my experience with the 2204/Fractal Brit 800. While the Brit 800 is gainier and more compressed than the 2204, the real 5150 is gainier and more compressed than the Fractal 6160 model.

For kicks, here's a direct recording of the Fractal with the newer settings. I don't have a way to record my amps direct.

The tone did change quite a bit, but of course an iPhone vs a pro IR of a different cab would do that I guess.

Nice, got it right the first time and wrong the second. Cool comparison man! Thanks for doing this
