I'm more of a higher gain guy..But that sounds fantastic. The more research I have done (and I dug deep), I keep hearing the same general feedback on the 101B:
- Unique, rich and addictive midrange quality unlike any other amp
- Not a "modern metal" amp necessarily, but capable of very heavy tones
- Very versatile and hard to get a bad sound out of it
- And many times over "one of the best amps ever made"
I have to at least give this one a shot

Same. I'm dialing high gain like 95% of the time, but if there's one amp that does great high gain AND edge of breakup gain that still sounds full and harmonically interesting, it's an Ecstasy.
Also, notice the EQ curve the guy is using to get that sound. This is not an amp you dial with your eyes. Keep that in mind.

Thank you...This is another lesson that I've learned in my research. Particularly regarding the unique use of the audi-taper treble pot in the 101B. Almost all the great tones that I have seen show the treble at 2 o'clock - 3 o'clock and the presence dialed at 2 o'clock or higher.
