Man… if anyone wonders why Ed was so revered, just watch some of this footage. He was just rock as fuck. Like I’m admittedly NOT a die hard VH fan, but I watch this newly found footage and all I can say is “fuck me!”

Ed and Dave were next level rock showmen and just killer live. Love them or not, no one can deny that.

I think for me the hardest thing about getting older is realizing that it will never be this cool again and all of our guitar heroes are leaving us and that is hard for me to come to terms with as of lately and I'm 53 but honestly still feel like a teenager when I see this stuff as I'm right back there .

its the weirdest feeling ever. not only do the heroes go away the but the people who were there when it was happening do too.

not only do you lose the people that made the time/event possible, but you also run out of people to talk to about it.

sometimes i'll read old threads on here from when the forum first started and its crazy to see how many of those people just disappeared.

Yeah, It's crazy as we have lost many Rig Talkers here and there over the years . Sometimes I will see a thread resurrected and see someone like Steve K's posts and it just feels really strange to me as I remember having many conversations with him over the years.

The scary part is that it only gets worse as you get older. First it's the music, then movies... then the entire culture shifts beneath your feet and becomes unrecognizable. Eventually you're the old guy eating breakfast at Bojangles every Tuesday & Thursday with a group of other old guys b/c it's the only people still alive that share a set of memories that you can relate to... and that's if you're lucky.

100% agreed, such a weird feeling seeing it happen live

amen...i always say to people that the greatest luxury on this planet is not something you can buy...its being lucky enough to make it to old age and dying peacefully in your sleep on a bed in a house you own surrounded by loved ones (whether they be family or friends)

I recognize the first part of what your saying but please don't tell me I'm eventually going to be spending my days at Bojangles reminiscing about the glory days of 80's hard rock and metal in this scenario as I'm not sure I want to make it to a ripe old age if that is my future...

Would you like a Bo-Berry Biscuit, sir?

It's crazy to me that this is less than 10 years after Woodstock. This feels like a decade before its time when in reality they were touring at the same time as Zeppelin

yup, i used to think 10 years was an eternity when i was younger...now it feels like a decade passes every time i blink my eye lol

The decades do pass by quick. Instead of music defining the decade it's now tech. Sad.
