Variac Wizards lend me your wisdom!

Been using that same one for a few years no problems but try to get the one that shows you amperage draw as well.

Yeah that’s hard. I had to get the Variac and an another device. Mainly I bought this to be an isolation transformer to wall off my gear from the rest of the room. It displays voltage, amps, watts, hertz. They have different sizes at different prices. I think it works pretty well and it was this is how a noticed my wall voltage is 125V which sent me down the Variac rabbit hole.

You can always get one of these and add it to your $65 one.

I was seeing 121-122 voltages in my house and went with a Brown Box set to 116. I've been very happy with that purchase and my amp tones are consistent now. Bonus is I can plug two amps into it as I run stereo in that rig.

thank you gang—you’re the best.
for your contributions i present matteo and eric jamming at a show tonight for your listening pleasure

I forgot about the brown box Mentoneman that PlayAnderson suggested. PsychoDave loves his and says he uses it all the time and it has a ACV display.

mahalo sir!
i knew about that thing but wanted to find a less expensive way to experiment with browning out the Peacemaker.
There used to be an ample supply of lightly used made in USA 140Amp Staaco's that were used in school and college labs on Ebay, which there are a few but they are 150-200 bucks from what I see. I bought a new one years ago in the early 2000's, they are almost $700 now. Just keep browsing Ebay for used ones. I wouldn't go too cheap on a variac. Even the old USA Ohmite's pop up every now and then.

Here's the best I could do....99 bucks, look in good shape. I would verify that it works before buying.
