Same year I saw them open for Black Sabbath on the Never Say Die tour.

This was in September. I think I saw them in August '78, I recall it was still summer and not a school night...long time ago.

I saw the show on August 28, 1978. Nassau Coliseum, NY.
They were incredible, video brings back visual memories. The sound was awesome, unlike Sabbath, who were so loud we left after a few tunes.

I saw the show at the New Haven Coliseum late August '78. may have been Hartford. I remember Ozzy wearing a bright orange bodysuit with white fringe on the sleeves; I was in front of Iommi when we rushed the stage, probably about 10 rows back. I took a few pics with my kodak instamatic 110 pocket camera, a few came out good, no idea where they are now.

Cheers!

That must have been it. I thought it was in the summer, guess not, but close! I was still a kid, don't remember much detail, but I remember my friends and I had never heard of VH, and we were all completely blown away - never heard anything like EVH. Roth was still able to scream and sing. The next day or few days, I went to the local indy record store and got my copy of VH1; they only had a few, as few people knew or heard VH

Thanks for posting. I'm going to have to watch the whole thing tomorrow. I can't play back in 4k but it will be interesting to check.

So @rsm - were you at this show then?

no, I was at a show in New Haven, CT (or could have been Hartford?) around the same time, maybe a day or two before or after this show.

EVH is great, and DLR is at his peak IMO, these are the DLR screams I remember!

in the YT vide the audio is complete, but the video has gaps.

I wouldn't wait too long to watch, I found a full Kiss concert from the mid '70s and shortly after I posted it was already taken down.

Not much gain in Ed’s sound. Still sounds f_cking amazing.
