My personal opinion is that if something works, stick with it because it just doesnt get old as long as you arent plagarising yourself
Spandex "worked" back then too. Not something I care to see a return to.
True but we werent talking about Spandex..

Spandex will never die!

I Dig it!!! Eddies tone is solid! Big punchy. Can't wait to hear the rest.
A little strange watching him play that ebony fretboard.

Sure we are. It had its place in time. Just dlr screams. Like spandex, they don't fit in the modern world.

You mentioned AC/DC earlier and how they still sounded the same. You're right. And of the one song I remember from their latest CD I thought it was redundant and nothing new.

It's cool. You like what you like and have your expectations. Everyone does. I enjoy hearing new things, even from old bands.

After several listens I don't hate it, but I'd like it more with a better guitar tone...that one is just bad

Heard the song on the radio today. It sucks big balls

VH hasn't produced anything good in 20+ years. If it were one of us, we would be fired from our jobs. VH needs to hang it up :aww:

As big a fan of VH that I am, I would have to agree with your statement Dave. The song structure sounds like Van Hagar only they let Dave come up with his goofy lyrics. They really need a good produced to tell them some this stuff is pure shit and help them form some type of songs that resemble good VH Rock, but alas they are too have attained stardom beyond the help of Ted Templeman type and now they suffer from Metallicaism that feed the monster egos.

Jeesh too bad wolfie couldn't tell his Dad, WTF this is crap! I hope there is something worthy on this record!

The me wise magic song and those other ones on the best of album sounded more interesting than this. More formulaic crap, no soul, no grind, no tone. Too bad!

and thats cool but theres nothing wrong with something that sounds "dated" or people hoping that a band indulges in the things that put them on the map no matter what place in time it came from

What is this modern world I keep hearing about? Kesha, Gaga, Nickelback, American Idol? etc.....

Also, most of you guys sound like you've never listened to DLR Van Halen. Better lyrics? Are you kidding me?

These guys are pretty old. That they were able to keep Eddie and Alex straight and keep Dave around long enough to record an album is a miracle in itself.

I kinda like it. I'll buy it. I keep hearing about how it should be. How it should be recorded. How the guitar tone sucks. They've been party/pop rock forever. This is no different.

Killer creative guitar? Probably not, but please tell me who, in todays music scene, is playing fun upbeat rock that even comes close to this stuff......

I think its great,it really grew on me. And i believe it was a record company move to release that song first, to try to capture some new fans for VH, thats why its not a total shred fest. Just wait til the cd drops, i bet it will have some good old VH all over it.

This is no different than VH I-1984? And you have question us as to whether or not we have heard DLR era VH? This sounds nothing nothing old school VH. It is totally different. Whether or not you, I or any of us like it is irrelevant. If you like it buy it. I will wait and see what the rest is like. So far, I find it underwhelming. I don't get your last phrase though, about comparing it to other current music.

There is tons of good music out there. Not everything falls neatly into the same category though. Richie Kotzen's disc 24 hours, Leslie West's new disc crushes this on pretty much every track. Lenny Kravitz's new disc is pretty amazing also. His first 4 or 5 songs are straight up rock and groove that grab you right in, unlike this. Steel Panther's new disc has tons of tracks that are better. Warren Haynes new disc is great too, but not so much upbeat rock. My point is that those are probably the last few discs that I bought or can remember and they are all smoking. I am sure there are tons more out there that others can list as well.

Just listened on something better than puter speakers and the tone blows, plain and simple. I would have enjoyed his Soldano / Eventide rig much more than this.

Anyone with a connection to the modern world.

Do you now how many times I've heard this being made fun of?

Yeah, it was fun and cool back in the day...but click the buttons and listen to them. Come on, man.

Indeed. Can you hum a single song off that cd?

I agree, there's nothing "wrong" with spandex.

Paul FUCKING Gilbert.......the flame never died with him. THE KING!

Warren did a pretty good job capturing his past as well.................and good tone.

and lets not tap the bands from across the pond like Pagan's Mind.

Sorry...this first tune just doesn't do it for me at all. I'm a big VH fan and sure hope Pete's right and there are a few stunners waiting in the wings. Chickenfoot which I dig, is sounding better and better all the time.

I am just going to say it. I think it f-cking sucks. It is a total joke. The tone and the horrible first pinch harmonic made me think oh god right off the top. They were talking about this on the radio today. They said call in and use one word to define it.... everyone disliked it and to be honest, the word that best described it was "desperate". Everything is so forced. DLR, love the guy. Love old VH. Loved Jump even! But DLR just looks like a florida retiree now. He can't jump and spin anymore. His knees are probably shot. Who wrote the lyrics??!!! "Tattoo tattoo"! Are you kidding me??? Horrendous. It is a joke. So much dead space in the verses. Horrible video. They should have opened with She's the Woman at the very least.

Anything good about it? Bass and drums are solid. Solo was technically good.

first single? FAIL. I have to admit that i hated Hagar but i really dislike a short haired senior citizen DLR.
