Sounds like VH to me  Big drums, loud guitars, cool solo, goofy Dave vocals. As I read through this thread, I'm thinking wtf is everyone really expecting? It's not 1981...EVH is an old dude now who appears to have straightened his life out and actually made a new record...with DLR!! I don't think they have a meanstreets or sinner's swing left in them to be honest but I hope I'm proven wrong when the record comes out :D

My prediction: VH sell a bunch of records, goes on tour and entertains the masses which is what they have always done.

You are correct- you will be proven wrong :D You guys just hold on. Waaaaaiiiitttt for it. You're gonna get knocked on your ass. This is just the single, and I think it's a good medium tempo rocker. There's more to the picture....
I really Hope so!! Looking forward to it

its really not that bad, not what i expected at all, but i like, ITS FUCKIN VAN FUCKIN HALEN FOR CHRIST FUCKIN SAKE! Give em a break, they are icons . you can't judge their comeback off of one song the record company picked, we all know how fucked up they are. wishing them to retire is just fucked up and selfish if you ask me. Im just glad they are still around to make some music no matter what it is.WELCOME BACK BOYS

Sports figures are destroyed daily for staying too long, for phoning it home on talkshows and the same should be for rockstars. I bust my mother's chops all the time for her screaming at a 350 pound sweaty Elvis barely able to move and she thinks that was the greatest performance ever.
VH aside for a moment, I have never understood this argument. Why would someone making millions of dollars a year call it quits because some fans believe they should? Particularly when those fans won't make that money in their entire lives, get on a guitar forum everyday and gush about the latest and greatest gear, will never make music that more than 100 people will ever hear and perhaps 1 person will ever remember....yet they go into thier basement everyday, or a couple times a week, or whatever, and keep playing.

Why in the world should someone making millions of dollars a year do something that you aren't willing to do yourself for many orders of magnitude less?

I'm sure it's all about the money right? And I seriously doubt Van Halen has been making millions of dollars these past few years, what have they been doing to generate millions of dollars?

If it's just for the money then the material will suck. If they wanted to do an album becuase they feel they had good material to write then so be it, let them try.

Sure I don't think the song is that good at all, but at least it's Van Halen out there releasing music. If they can take back any fans away from the shit music scene that people like M&M riuned, then let them.

But it is a sad indication of the music scene when were getting all excited about a band with members that are pushing 60. Too band there's not bands coming out that we get as excited about that have 21 year olds. Eddies son doesn't count.

Of course you would not, I understand your issue with this but can offer no help
Really? People are willing to pay someone money to the tune of millions of dollars doing what they enjoy doing, and you think they should quit because they don't appeal to you anymore? Yet, you sit there, an unknown making many orders of magnitude less money for it, but continue to play?

Absurd.

I like their last song better, hmmmm hang on........ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UXafvx8Tn1g&feature=fvst
Man, if the new VH song was this good, people would send the new record multiplatinum.

Sammy and Michael are definitely having the last laugh. And I say that as a huge VH fan, hoping beyond hope that they could put out some good new music. But props to Chickenfoot...

Damn Sammy can sing! Michael's back ups rock as usual and Satch is pretty good too ;)

The last tour they did grossed 93 million. I would suspect they probably made a couple million off it. Maybe not.

That said, the comment is more along the lines of the general comment Digital Jams was making (regarding sports figures and what not). We hear it all the time about Metallica, and they are making millions. The point though, isn't about the money, it's the absurdity of why someone should "quit" what they do because some people don't like them. The money part just puts a capital A on Absurd.

I don't really care about how old someone is that is putting out music. I'll either like it or not. But I do agree that it's unfortunate that we don't have new, younger bands that are exciting us. Then again, I suspect the youth does have young bands that excite them. We aren't young anymore. I mean, did your parents like VH? Mine didn't.

Just like I thought, trying to pass opinion as fact and failing.

Do you now how many times I've heard this being made fun of?
and this matters to anyone beyond you how?

Rogue":bh3z4ucq said:
Yeah, it was fun and cool back in the day...but click the buttons and listen to them. Come on, man.

Ive had that link for awhile and I love it. Its part of his style but in that context, its funny as hell. Im sure you could do the same thing by isolating Eddies dive bombs , pick scrapes and tapping and it would probably be funny( or annoying depending on how you look at it). Are you going to call that dated? Even better, do it with James Browns' HIIIIII!!!!! and his various grunts and wed all probably piss ourselves but would it really be The Godfather without that? I get it, you dont like it anymore and are trying to justify that somehow..

No matter, whatever we think certainly doesnt matter in the end and certainly not to VH in the big picture.

Rogue":bh3z4ucq said:
Indeed. Can you hum a single song off that cd?

No, I can hum several of them. If youre an AcDc fan, it was a pretty big album for them, nominated for a grammy,2nd biggest selling album of the year and their highest grossing tour ever.

As for VH, despite what you think or what I have said that might be misconstruied, Im very hopeful for something great, I WANT nothing more than to love this and Im going in very open minded despite the fact that Ive voiced my preferences. Its EVH and Ill always root for him... Pete Thorn and Dave Friedman seem to have the inside skinny and sound very excited so Im hoping like hell to share in that..

Yeah but your folks didnt have access to the internet and forums like this to at least have an idea of what youth liked beyond what was on the radio.

One of my best friends discovered and managed Hawthorne Heights. I had never heard of them until he mentioned them to me and then I saw an ad on MTV for their new record and it was gold on its way to platinum and to this day, Im not sure If I would know a single tune from them.

I still think that there is good music being put out on a regular basis but you have to do a little digging to find it in many cases.

I hope we all do, especially you, love muffin.  However, I don't need it to knock me out to like it. That seems to be the standard around here, real or perceived.

When you take in to consideration the impact that VH has had on many around here, its quite understandable and pretty easily so..

I can say, without doubt, my folks wouldn't have liked VH if they had internet access to everyone forum on the planet in every room of the house.

I agree. I listen to Pandora a lot and hear stuff I like from band's I never heard of. No doubt there is good music out there.

In all seriousness, don't you think it's unrealistic to place expectations in such a place that the bar would be the stuff they did 30 years ago when they were in their prime? I don't know of anyone, AC/DC included, that are producing material that rivals the stuff they did in their prime....at least sticking with same genre. Of course, I guess this is just my opinion.

I'm sorry, but this sucks. I love VH and can find something to appreciate in every album so far. I want to like it, but the video seems awkward and the song is boring for a single.
