Killer rig, man! I love some gear porn every once in a while. :D How would you compare the Triaxis to those other pre's? Have you tested Egnater M4 and its different modules?

Thanks for all your great replys! (other sites need to take notice at how smooth rig talk runs!)... Yes, im the one who's selling the engl570.Its just too close sounding to my other preamps..Id love to hear more about the vht pre again...I havent tried an egantor ie4 yet...About the triaxis:its hard to beat the "good ol boogie" sound w/it.Tight & focused on its heavy presets.U hav 2 play w/it a bit at first.Badcat pre is hands down my best clean & in between sounds.Fish & x88r sound thier best w/a good power amp, well they all do.Dont skimp here!..

I suppose I could of commented on Gp3 too as I did have one... I'm an idiot sometimes! The GP3 is a pretty damn good pre with good features. I personally think it does best at rock and metal, if you like a really tight, dry type of gain. Of course it depends on what power amp you use, but we all know that. The clean channel is ok, it's not some Fender or pristine amazing clean, but you can get it to sound good. Ch 2 is AMAZING, but Ch 3 is really not much different from Ch 2, except that it has a little more natural gain. I don't remember it having much different tone that Ch 2. Honestly, if you really want it, go for it, but I would say your X88R can cover pretty much the same ground as the VHT, but with a better clean.

Thanks again for the great help!..W/ a mesa mkV coming out, maybe randall will revamp the triaxis too..Now only if Diezel,Splawn,65, Dr.Z,etc would issue preamps ,I for one have a use for them and would find a way to buy every one of them even if I had to sell my left and right arms and feet!..thanks.

Diezel and Splawn... if they made pre's, I wouldn't know WHAT to do with myself if I didn't grab one! I know Diezel is making one, hoping it will come soon, but probably not until the end of the year at the earliest. I know it will SLAY though!!

Diezel pre - I belive that my praying well not go in vain.

That is the one I am waiting for.

Thanks for the comment on the rack!..Its since went through a few upgrades....boy....I wonder if I'll ever be done with it?.

The badcat preamp was made in thier custom shop, same place Im getting the power amp made too.So far, only I and them have one of each.It takes about a year for them to make each. The pre has every feature thier amps have and more-even the ability to footswitch different tubes in and out. It's 2 channels w/ ability to combine both.Effects loops,tube/solid sate rect. and a ton of outputs. Its very rich & organic sounding, the best cleans I have,+ its got a pretty cool high gain ch. in it too.Power amp is-2-el34's and 4-el84's,true stereo, depth, cut, etc, class a., and the logo lights up! both 1 offs so far. :D

Some more rack eye candy

B-...... Those VHT Preamps were the worst sounding preamps I ever tried. That's why you see them for sale all the time. Pure crap.

Ive seen that people are getting a few mods on the vht pre.Seems to make em more of what the owners want in it then...I also see a few mods to the CAE 3+ pre- one id like to have in this rack yet...I think id rather move on cae than a vht at this point..

I personally like the CAE best. The Fish and X88/X99 are close too. The VHT is very dry and stiff sounding, which is not to my liking.

Nice pre's Sweetrock!!! ......have you ever tried the CAE3+?

And then send your Bad Cat my way...

I think you'd like the older CAE 3+ more than the SE.

I just found the older one to be more organic, articulate. warm in the right places. The newer one was a little too compressed and sterile to my ears. Sort of like comparing the X99 vs the X88 - I like the 88 much better.
