My biggest regret is I dont live close enough to be there and bring my amp so I could listen to these guys hammer the hell out of it next a bunch of other amps!! It would be so cool to be able to do a direct in person comparison. And I LOVE listening to other people play my rig....they all seem to make it sound so much better than I can!! LOL

Hey everyone,

I've been returning emails and PM's this morning (nearly 100) but I'm off to work and have 2 sets of clients in from out of town so just bare with me, I will answer all my emails as soon as I can. Time to get my s**t back together at work. Gotta get it on till the brink of dawn!

James

p.s. The amp fest was an amazing experience, The amp fest plus over 30 years of playing guitar, most of them professionally, I have now played and recorded nearly every flavor of amp on planet earth. Very cool. I appreciate you guys so much.

Peace...

Wow!!! Lots of cool stuff here. I only listened to the Mod Squad offerings and was really stoked to hear Stevesamp for the first time and it sounded great!!! The biggest surprise was how much I liked the Splawns, especially the Nitro and I hate Splawns LOL( Disclaimer, I hated everyone that Iever played in tone and feel but I have definitely heard thes sound good when played by others.) That said, the Notro was my favorite out of all of them

The Fortin Bones was underhwelming which was another surprise because Ive prettty much dug everything that Ive heard and played of Mikes and the Bones that I played out in LI sounded better If I remember.

Loved the Cameron Aldrich alot better than the Jose and IVe heard better CCV's but that one didint suck, just didnt sound as cool as the Aldrich to me...

The Friedmans were cool as well but Ive forgotten which ones I liked and didnt like...

Cant wait to check out the others, especially the mid gain offerings..

This thread definitely needs to be a sticky.

Ha, I can't get to Soundclick right now, I think we overloaded it's server

Oddly enough, that CCV was the proto from the NAMM show vid's everyone loved. It just didn't translate well. Honestly, I thought it sounded really shitty on the recording. Not so, in the room. Ehhh...who cares   Still my favorite amps by a wide margin

It was a GREAT time, and James and crew were very gracious hosts!

Thanks again fellas!

My favorite is the Aldrich .... what a killer amp....

Great job James and Company! what an incredible thing you guys did for the community....

It's tough capturing the best balance between room sound and close mic'd sound..... Keep that in mind guys...

i couldnt get through all the clips, but from what I heard I like the Tele through Ugly 18 , Wizard for sure, stock 79 Marshall and the South Bay Plexi..the 71 Friedman was kick ass too.

Oh I didn't even know that Henning is from a forumite. There you have it, hangs there with Friedman, Wizard et al. I guess that should be kinda motivating for you to keep it up ;)

Not a bad one at all, your right James the Mod Squad part duo made me shat myself.

The whole lot are exquiste, the Lynch SLO is dynamite but too smooth compared to the Friedman Marshalls, they have a "jagged" sounding distortion while still being tight & brite, Lugo's 71' KS Marshall is the ultimate sounding Marshall IMHO, least til i get Dave to mod one of mine, the Cameron Aldrich made me wet myself, by far the best sounding Cameron evar.

The new Friedman Trannies definetly have an old school Marshall vibe going on, [wonder where Dave gets those?????]

ROCK ON DUDES!!!!!

Steve, didn't say it yet in here, but mentioned in the other thread; your amp sounded killer! Great work on that thing man!

I think the rackto sound thin in this video mine sounds fatter and that's even with the old tubes it has now

Wow, So many people emailing and pming. That kinda stinks. what a storm eh. Anyway this flat out kills. Only listened to a bit so far, but really impressed with some amps. Thought the Friedman Jet city rocked too!

Thanks James and nice meeting the Rig-Talk dudes

I was up like all night watching all the vids,

really an amazing amount of good tones got documented,
true it was different in the room, but I think the samples are great.
its was cool to hang with some of the "original dudes" in the amp game too.
Cheers

It's awesome having the room sound vids as well as the mic'd sound vids. You get a true feel for the amp. Some of the amps sound better "room" some better mic'd. For eg. I distinctly remember in Mighty warlock's awesome live feed (thanks again) the Fortin had a huge but together low end. Noticeably bigger than the previous amp but somehow mic'd it seems messed up on the lows. Absolutley not a knock on the engineering, just what I remember. The Whirley sounds better with the Q3 recording and I think the Ugly 100 also shined better in the room recording. I'm glad we have both. Because if we buy any of these amps and record with them the mic'd samples are more realistic of what we might get on disc, but if the room version sounds better the amp can probably be dialed to reflect more of that on disc. Minus the super expensive pre's and other gizmo's (very jealous).

It took me a second to feel alright saying "to disc" as opposed to tape.

I guess what I'm trying to say is what a kickass resource this has turned out to be

That Slo that was used. The Lynch owned. Is it still his or does it belong to someone else these days?

If I were James I wouldn't be worried about some of the negative comments regarding the amps.. clearly everyone here has a diff ear. For example, I loved the Jose, hated the Cameron Adridge.. others see it the other way around. I find it just as interesting to read people's opinions. Kind of like women.. if we all liked the same ones, none of us would have what we wanted!

Was that Dave Friedman's 68 50w Marshall w/ Variac clip?

For me, that was just the greatest thing ever. Don't get me wrong- LOTS of great sounds - but
that one spoke to me. Just awesome. Reeves was killer. Cheap, too!

Played enough SLOs to know I love 'em. The Wizard Modern was daunting sounding - huge!

I am going to be listening to that soundclick page forever....
