mesa v30s even have a different product code
usually T4335B (8 ohms) or T4416B (16 ohms)
the old english and the chinese ones have T3903 (8 ohms) or T3904 (16 ohms)
marshalls had T3989 (8 ohms) or T3897 (16 ohms)

they're definitely not the same as regular V30s, but I never could make a comparison in the same cab to notice the differences

I made a comparison, with the same cab, even two cabs ;) they are very different, Mesa's sound smoother and less agressive. If anyone is interested I think I have one of these comparisons recorded somewhere.

To the OP, I tried K100s, G12H30s, CL80s, Chinese V30s, UK V30s, Mesa V30s. Always got back to V30s, and I can honestly say that, after the Mesa V30s, the best one that I got was a brand new Chinese V30 that I got a couple of weeks ago, that just started to break in, and sounds absolutely great!

did you try Marshall V30s?
I've read a post by Jim (Scumback) saying that Marshall's T3897 was harder sounding than the regular T3904

I like V30's when used with the right amp. I don't really like them in opened back cabs or combos. I find they are better for more modern tones than used with vintage amps. A long time ago, I put a pair of V30's in my Fender HR deville 212. The clean suffered, but the gain tones improved.

I have one V30 in a closed back 112 cab. Its a nice grab and go option for my mesa mark IV and cuts through well. I think V30's are overused a bit. I find the CL80 more versatile in terms of working in alot of different amps compared to the V30. Still the V30's have their place and pretty much every guitarist has had one in their cab or combo at some point....

I would be interested in hearing that comparison.

To add to my first comment, When I had my stiletto, it didnt like the V30s. It was too much. Too harsh in the upper mids. H30s were ok with it and T75s were goddly.

Like ANY other speaker, V30s can sound great with one setup, and not so much with others.

I like V30s, 65s, old Rola 80s, Greenbacks. All these have detailed midrange.

I dislike 100s, H30s, Sidewinders, CL80s, Centuries, 70s, 75s. Most of these are scooped.

G12H and century vintage scooped? really?

G12H30 1777 cone, definitely. Century vintage, ok, as thats a neo magnet V30, its not scooped. I meant the 80w Century.

I would like to try a 444 cone G12H30. I'm sure I'd add that to my 'like' category :)

for whatever reason the only time i ever like that speaker is when it's in a bogner cab. the bogner cube, the 1x12 open back, and the 4x12 put the v30 in the best light. otherwise not so much
