When are you getting your Butterslax?
Was supposed to be Friday... Lemme check the tracking.

Says next update by tomorrow at 5pm, but has re-dated ETA to this Wednesday by 5pm. Seems to have been held up in customs.

Yeah, for long enough for them to all play it, get a Kemper profile and get it boxed back up! :D
I don't think 98% of the hands or eyes that Friedman box passes through or under know anything about the "magnitude" of what's in that box.

We'll see when it arrives - just better arrive in good shape or I'll have a Barzini Cocktail awaiting the UPS Customer Service department :gethim:

You're probably right! Hope it arrives alive!

Yes, Canada. We have 120V services in our igloos.

Chilly nights need to be HEATED up by Slax Glass!!!

Can't wait to hear your first impressions.
Picked up a used JJ and LOVE it, still "feel" the pull of the Slax.
Just know you are gonna be tipping the scales...decisions, decisions.
I know its a lot of power to hold in your hand, yet I believe in you and know you are capable of weilding such power responsibly

I gotta say, the JJ is such a fine amp, like, SUCH a fine amp, that - here's the weird thing - the more I play it, the more excited I am about hearing and feeling what the Slax can do. It's just like, you know, sisters...dating sisters. You're stoked on the first one right outta the gate, and then whaddya know, similar lines, different style and flavour - boom - two's better than one

I'm jazzed - but not even watching the tracking as I'm pretty stoked with the JJ and what it's offering (along with my XYC, Sheevs, Atma, yada yada...hellfire I have had a duel between the TwinJet and JJ - nice surprise? VERY different tones. Cool surprise? Kinda complementary tones. Totally different and tonally different - also feel is different - but both absolutely throw fire, the TJ perhaps a little less refined in its nuclear proclivities, but ya, they're similar but different and the difference makes them play nice together, if that makes any sense at all). But hopefully Wednesday or Thursday I'll have a chance to bust into her and give 'er!!

Hey, with all your Lottery winnings, you should call Floyd Mayweather and see if he will sell you
a few of his "iced up" watches, and maybe a Ferrari or two.
Watches are pointless - we all have iPhones now and are pretty much programmed to know the time without looking... We've become machines.

As for Ferraris - hard to find any of the higher end models with room for an amp, let alone an amp, guitar and cab!!

But man, you never told me you wanted a JJ. You should be careful, you JUST got that Katana and now you're looking for a JJ...?? Dude, there's a support group for people like us - I think the ringleader is on this forum, but it's 1-800-GAS-GONE or something like that. Maybe give them a call if these "dark thoughts" permeate your thinking any further.

I cant wear a watch and play guitar. I feel like it interferes somehow. How, I cant tell you, but I just know that it does. The same goes for rings, bracelets, wristbands, etc.

Then I see a guy like Yngwie, with watches on both wrists, loose heavy Rolex's, rings on every finger and multiple rings on others. I cant even imagine playing like that!!

Interesting. I used to be all about the "rock and roll wrists" back in the day. Then that morphed into nicer jewelry, but still pretty "industry style" rocker edge stuff.

Now? No watch, bracelet, or even a [wedding] ring. Nothing. Can't deal with things on or around my hands.

First signs of dementia I am sure.

The guy's a great player, that's undeniable.

But I just can't handle watching him, listening to him, or anything to actually "do" with him. I keep saying "he's not arrogant, it's just his accent and heritage", but then he goes full on and says super arrogant stuff. Then he plays, and it's miraculous what he can do, but it sounds more athletic than it does musical, like fretboard Olympics or something, it's not as "musical". Then there's his tone. It's just gross. Least for me it is. All tinny and glassy; can't deal.

I know he says his biggest idol in rock guitar is Ritchie Blackmore, but man, he couldn't be further from Blackmore's terrain... IMHO :dunno:

But ya, too much jingle-jangle for my likes. Way too much. Looks like a shopping mall attraction during the peak of Christmas shopping season.

Yeah man I went through the Rock Wrist thing for about 2 years ago but now can't stand it. LOL!

TRUTH.
Yngwie is a "one-trick-pony". He's awesome at what he does, which is neo-classical shredding.
WHICH IS WHY...
Michael ROMEO is the true KING of this genre! Romeo can do all that "Yngwie shit", and still be extremely "musical" at the same time.
Romeo is also not a "one-trick-pony". The guy can play it ALL. There is nothing he can't play.
Little known factoid: ( One of Romeo's influences is Uli John Roth. )
;)

Whoa dude! I gotta slam the brakes on here man because you went on the rant but failed to acknowledge the contributions which Yngwie gets a free pass to live off of for life. First of all, his single greatest contribution Rising Force will forever be one of THE most incredible and influential guitar-laden albums of all time. That album alone gives Yngwie a free pass for life to sport chest hair and noodle around on the same old riffs perpetually (pun intended).

HOWEVER, his contributions up until Attack! in 2002 were phenomenal. Shit man, like Fire & Ice and Magnum Opus were fucking stellar. Certainly I wouldn't argue with anyone calling Yngwie a one-trick-pony these days because after the release of Attack!, he pretty much slumped into 1 1/2 decades of Unleash the Flurry. Every now and then there are moments of the old Yngwie, but those moments are pretty much pissed away by his incessant need to doodle, doodle up and down.

Yngwie is a treasure. He's now only a shell of what he once was, but it's wrong on so many levels to put down such a legend. As far as I'm concerned, he deserves to be revered based on 20 fucking years of great rockin. Go back and listen to some of his old stuff man because it sounds like you've either forgotten or never developed an appreciation.

Duly noted and your opinion, 100% appreciated :salute:

I should have qualified my prose to state more over "the Yngwie of late", not the "Yngwie of the 80s"; his shit did indeed blow me away back then. Absolutely formidable player - but then I was part of the Randy Rhoads camp and I've always loved the melding of machine like accuracy and performance, with equal parts harmony, musicality and groove/flow. RR delivered that. Yngwie to me was "out to impress" and impress he did.

As much shit as I give you about the "Slax"... I am looking forward to your review of it,
and how it compares to the JJ.

Just get ready to box-up that JJ for shipping to my house.
You won't need it anymore once you get "Mister SLAX".

The JJ ain't going anywhere... It's a homerun amp! Sorry, it's not going to be a matter of this or that, it's going to be will they complement(?), or fight? If they fight, well, separate amps they are. If they complement? Match 'em up and see where it goes.

I'm pumped - sadly I'll be out of town probably the day after it arrives so unsure as to when I'll have a good rip on it, but we'll see. I'll inspect it first and foremost to make sure no transformers got bent off the chassis or bottle got broken :gethim:
