Watching a Def Leppard concert on TV sad

They should be splitting the leads. Makes no sense that they don't. Gotta be Phil's ego. Any band I've ever been in, with a 2nd guitar player we always split work. Doesn't matter if I'm/they are the better player.
 
Viv has his Last In Line project to show his chops. Was always one of my favorite guitarists, glad he finally came back around to accepting his legacy in Dio. Perhaps had both not been so bitter while Ronnie was alive they could have reconciled. I think it would have happened eventually but they ran out of time.

As for Def, agree with all above - he's such a better player than Collen it's not even funny but why bother, the paycheck's been solid for over three decades now.
 
Phil's solos and tone are the sound of Def Leppard. Its just the way it is. I'm sure Viv knew he was going to be second fiddle going in. He's a great fit for the band. More of a bluesy player anyway. Even when he's doing the Last in Line gig it's more about the songs than being a shred guitarist. I think he's right where he wants to be in his career. Nothing but respect for him.
 
Collen insisting on going shirtless and oiling his body up says it all.... Vivian is just stock piling for retirement. Probably a fun enough gig where you can even get shit faced and play the gig without errors because there is no spot light on you. Look at hot girls, play the same cheesy ass Def Leppard post Hysteria stuff and pretend you like it.

Out of all the 80's players, Vivian Campbell and Gary Moore are my favorites. I once met Vivian at a local sub shop. Totally normal guy. Not that it was a surprise, but, his favorite guitarist is Rory Gallagher. The way Phil Collen carries-on as though he's "the man" is quite hilarious.
