You don't necessarily need to crank an amp for recording a tone, for example if you have good preamps.

But that tone is sick, nice one.

Probably a little too fizzy for my tastes but much, much less fizzy than some of the other clips you've posted

Sounds much more brutal, much more like a punch in the gut

I would guess that you don't need to completely crank it to get that tone, but probably need to open it up just a bit

Yep. I seem to always forget 2203s really need some volume. Even at home, just enough to get it exciting. But it’s too loud. Just do not sound good at all at ”bedroom levels”. Loud and I become a believer again.

I tried a 2203 with horizontal inputs at some guy's home, very low volume, it was horribly piercing and trebly, like some kind of cheap old modeller.

Yeah, anything that still needs some compression from the PI is gonna get loud. I had a 2204 that had a PPIMV fitted, which was a good idea.

The power section plays a huge role in the tone of 2203/2204/1959/1987 Marshalls. Yes you do need to get the master that high to get that last 10% of sweetener on top. And once you get there and experience it, its like pussy compared to jerking off.

Thanks Dan. The Amp opens up at around 2.2, it's monstrous at around 3 and kinda insane on 4. Bit of Mastering going on in the Clip too.

Yes, they do. When you turn them up it's glorious. Not everytime, but every now and then. You have to mean what you are playing and be ready for the volume, otherwise it can sound like shit too.

I get that. They have a few design changes, like lower filtering and a bit more aggression apart from the board mounted Pots.

I can’t afford the hardware, so I used Universal Audio plugins. They don’t sound too bad for my inexperienced ears, but they miss that magic that hardware units bring.
