How about a Boss using a Boss SDE delay? It lets you do easy the w-d-w output. I did some tests with 3 Katana amps and it sounded pretty cool.

I'm not hostile to Fractal, but any would-be buyer has to consider why so many people want theirs gone for $500, and whether you too will be in that boat in 2 years. Or put another way, Fractal has not yet managed to release a unit that's a staple with long-term demand.

Personally I totally loved my Axe-Fx II when I had one, and when the Axe-Fx III came out I dumped the II as fast as I possibly could because I knew the Axe-Fx III was going to be better in every way (and it was) and I wanted in on that, hah. I also think if Fractal Audio the company disappeared from the face of the earth today, the Axe-Fx III would keep getting top dollar for decades.

There are Axe-FX II MkIIs all over the place for $500 or so

No one scours the local used market more than I and the cheapest I've seen a MkII is $700 and it looked like it had seen a few tours. I agree with what you are saying but the MkIII is almost a decade in and a clean MkII still will sell for close to a grand pretty quick. For modeling that isn't too bad

Yeah, I think the only reason the Fractal units go down in value is because they keep making newer ones. I still have my old Axe II I bought new. It is still a great effects unit, but it doesn't do what the III does of course. Only reason why I look at other options is because it is so huge. Would be awesome if it were the size of my Intellifex.

That's why I didn't upgrade to the III--they made it bigger when it needs to be more portable. I suppose the floor units sound great but I believe they lack the processing power of the flagship rack. Full power, on the floor baby--the racks should be a niche IMO. And put an integrated pedal on the floor units please

I have a FM3 also, but it is not that tiny either. I mean, it isn't big, but it is too tall for a 2 space rack drawer for example.

Not pick a fight here @Rackman but this is an incorrect generalization that makes people who are assumed to have money like (doctors, lawyers, hermie the dentist) need to look like they have money by getting the latest and greatest item on the market even though they are not serious about music. Not all musicians have time to research old and new gear like RTers do, they just get what they think might be good enough. Naivety probably plays a big role in what people buy. Money just allows them to do it more quickly.

I have been thinking about this lately also. I have been super complicated the last year or two doing stereo. I am not a huge effects person, but going to mono lately made me realize how much all the stereo stuff was making my tone too thick. Like, there is less definition and clarity for my tight percussive chuga chuga riffs. Even just using a mono delay sounds clearer then trying to ping pong dual delays around.
