Do tell. Mine is $5M for very comfortable to $10M to be able to do most anything reasonable.

I don't believe in comfortable living as much as I do cheap living. And you live longer if you work. So I will never afford to, nor would I want to be fully retired. Big money detracts from the challenge and plus then people are after you for it. That would be exceptionally boring and irritating.

Man! I couldn’t be more different! But hey if that’s your energy plane,go for it.

I wanna travel and be creative and get stoned and have amazing sex and eat like a king!!!

I just want to go to heaven when I die. The pleasures are temporary but I do enjoy getting paid to play guitar and sing so I try to do that as much as possible. I need the money and it's great justification for needing a 2nd electric right now hence my les paul thread!

My father, about to turn 84, states that if he sits down he will die.
He still lives off favors he did owning the auto dealership doing handy man type work.

I'm wired the same way...

Retirement is a luxury that my generation will not be afforded. People can't even afford to buy homes when they make 100k/yr. Retirement? People are struggling paycheck to paycheck on wages that used to be considered 'Upper Middle Class'.

Also, there is going to be a famine coming soon, better hope that money taste good!

You seem to wish that to happen

Well, that’s definitely a negative take. I hope you end up wrong! I guess it is all relative based on where you live. I live in the south and $100,000 a year still goes quite a long ways. Also, I can live off the land and grow my own vegetables if need be.

I'm about a year (14 months) out from my planned early retirement. I plan to keep working another 1-2 years or so past my target date to get my sailboat, and get it ready.

Knowing I can retire now if I wanted is huge peace of mind.

right on man. Before I had kids I had my retirement all figured out, now I gotta plan for college and weddings and all that shit lol. I'm shopping around for a nice couch for my office for me to die on

If you're making $100K+ in the USA and can't save/invest, you're living above your means. You need to sacrifice now for your future, time and compounding your biggest assets.

Not going into what I had to do to get where I am, but I will say I did it myself, even after losing half my wealth, house and assets in divorce, paying half my income in alimony and child support for several years with several more to go, even though my kids live with me by their own choice.

As far as food goes, I've been ready for years, living in a hurricane and flood zone: food, water, fuel, etc. I have at least 6 months supplies of all.

For both retirement savings and planning for famine:

if i sold off all my shit i can make it 20 yrs right there

That would make an interesting thread for once in OTC.

Excluding the SR thread which is the best.

You pay child support to your ex but your kids live with you?!
