What speakers came stock in the JCM800 cabs? I've read that it could be G12-65s, G12M70s or G12T75s. There's a guy selling one locally and he has no idea what's in it and I'm wondering if it's worth going over and taking the back off.

In addition to those listed above, 800 cabs also came stock with G12H-100s, and as you know, G1280s. If its from the late 80's, there's a chance it may have V30s (labeled Marshall Vintage, black/gold label) as well. It'd be nice to have some old U.K. made V30s !

Excellent on the customs. I've gotten lucky a few times myself that way. As far as the cab goes, I guess I'll have to make the drive and see. I'm betting I get there and find a quad of T75s. That would suck.

Mine came with G12T65's - this was circa 1985/1986.

If they're really old, they'll have the vent (like 65s & 80s) on the back. These are better, not quite as scooped, more lively & resonant than current 75s. Probably not a big enough difference to consider if you hate 75s, but fans of 75s may want to seek those out.

I have a 1981' JCM-800 4x12 model # 1982a with G12-80 Rola celestions, it flat out rocks with my JMP's.......pic's......
