What are your favorite DiMarzio pickups and why?

Has anybody tried the Humbucker from hell? I am planning a guitar build using the PAF PRO in the bridge and humbucker from hell in the neck. Any comments on this setup?

I have an Air Norton in the neck. It sounds okay, but not a favorite. It almost sounds like a tone pot is connected and rolled back 1/2 way

Do you have the input and output wires reversed on the volume pot?

As for Single coils, I really like the Virtual Vintage heavy blues in the neck position. It more closely resembles my ideal strat sound (my custom shop set neck strat w/ Texas Specials) but without the noise. It's not perfect, but it gets close. The rest of the singles I've used, are OK, but nothing to write home about.

I have the Virtual Blues model in the neck positions of my two 'traditional' Strat builds and dig them, but I've got a Heavy Blues model lying about, possibly going in a S/H Strat...wonder how it pairs with a humbucker?

My favorite DiMarzio is all of the ones I have removed and replaced with a Duncan's over the years.

I do remember 70's Super Distortions as sounding cool but haven't played one in 25 years.

you and me both geppetto.

i'd rather dig up jack pallance and kiss his cold black mouth than play a dimarzio

For the longest time the combo of Super Distortion/Air Norton was my go to set up. It just had all the tones I had in my head. I still love the Air Norton in the neck, but have moved on in the bridge.

My favorites are the ones that come stock in the EBMM Axis/EVH. I wish that they sold them as normal pups.

steves special and air norton are both awesome. tone zone is eh in the bridge, but cool in the neck (if slightly over the top, but very flute-like)

I like the VV series, the solo and solo pro. (i think? had an A2)

Old super distortions are cool for a raunchy 70s/80s hard rock/metal tone. The HS-3 is pretty cool in single coil mode.
