Seymour Duncan>Dimarzios......

Its Always Sunny In Philadelphia>Cheers.......

In-N-Out>Five Guys :dunno:

I live not too far from a music shop that has had a fairly close connection to Satriani - loaning amps, doing repairs or anything needed while he is in the area, etc.

I never forgot what the shop owner said - they were working on one of his guitars or something and were shooting the shit and the guy noticed his pickups were NOT Dimarzios....

He said, "Joe, these are Duncan's, I thought you always played your Dimarzios??"

The response was a finger pressed to the lips and a "shhhhhh".

This was quite some years back and who knows if the guy just made it up but idk why he would.
Advertisement reasons I figure.... Same as Paul Gilbert and how he can't be seen playing anything else other than an Ibanez or something :dunno:

I can deal with EMGs, Duncans, and Bare Knuckle. I can't deal with Dimarzio. The top end is simply missing on most of them.

A variation of a Duncan is usually my go to or what I would probably recommend for most high gain applications. Consistency and $, for the most part.
That said; my personal favorite pickups (as in found the best bridge pickup for the guitar, ymmv) are PRS \m/, Duncan Nazgul, Railhammer Chisel, Burstbucker 2/3, Classic 57. The young me would have been all over 500T, Super Distortions, and Invaders. I would probably still leave those in a guitar that came with them if they were paired properly, but wouldn't seek them out.
Yeah Burstbuckers 2/3 are my fave too..... They are fantastic 😎

Gibson 500T are amazing too and a treat, totally for a younger me. Younger me wouldnt have liked Burstbucker 2/3 😂

Gibson USA buckers aren't bad and the new Kramer USA are amazing. More people should try and I bet you'd like them too I figure since Gibson makes them too and they are Jim DeCola design.

Agree on Super Distortions too. Need to give a Duncan Nazgul and Railhammer Chisel a try sometime.

I found Dimarzios to be pretty bright in the highs but they smooth out when you run them into a cranked amp unlike the Seths. I even have a Dimarzio cable that is def oriented towards a more trebly bite on top. *shrugs

They aren't bad to be honest and a lot of guys use and like them for good reason. Just grew up mainly using Duncans.

Responding to the post and member because Burstbucker 2/3 are my favorite too :dunno:
You were doing so good, too..

I know that you are borderline fucking retarded, and perhaps I am being generous with the borderline modifier, but when members unintentionally respond to a fallen member, it is ok. They don't realize. When you do it knowingly it is fucking weird.

With you and your history with Lisa, it is disrespectful and I don't want to hear about how she was your sister or whatever bullshit you want to spew.

Just leave her and her memory alone.

I don't want to hear your BS either so we have that in common....... :dunno:

DiMarzio have a certain mid-range thing going on. You either love it or hate it. Between the two, I usually prefer Duncans. I feel like I hear more of the guitar with Duncan and less of the pickup. That said, I'll use whatever I think works best for a particular guitar. These days I tend to refer some of the smaller winders.

To me DiMarzios are just made for bright, or at least quite articulate instruments. Put most of em in a guitar with fat low end, or smooth in the upper mid-range, and you hear there's something wrong. Duncans shine on most guitars.

The seth lovers are really close to a lot of vintage gibson pickups i've played, so you'd probaby hate those too - I don't like either.

Unpotted pickups make me roll my eyes lol
My Navigators still have Seth Lovers and they squeal like pigs with gain and volume. I dunno how anyone handles it. Need to get those out, but the wiring is so immaculate it seems criminal for me to hack it up.
