So I played a Friedman JJ a few weeks ago through the Friedman V30/GB25 cab and it sounded great. I recently got a Helios and Bogner has their version of the Friedman 2xV30 on bottom, 2 GB on top (only I'd guess Bogner's cab has the poly fill on the back like the rest of his cabs.) My current cabs are:

Bogner Uberkab - stock V30/T75, x pattern FL
Bogner Uberkab - V30/Scumback J75, x pattern FL
Bogner 212 Stack Cab loaded with Creamback 65

I know there's not a lot of Helios' but any suggestions on a good cab match other than what I have? Or should I pull the poly from the V/30 J cab?
Any suggestions?

I've got a Mojave Greenback reissue loaded 4x12 and a Splawn 4x12 loaded with Scumback M75 25 watt and the Helios sounds great thru either one although the Scumback cab is a much darker sounding cab. I prefer the Greenbacks although for some the Helios is probably pretty bright and they may like the darkness of the scumbacks to tame some brightness.
I've had the Helios 4 months now and recently pondered selling or trading but I think I'm just gonna keep it, Great amp!

I'm sure it sounds great with the greenback vintage 30 mix I've just not tried it yet.
If you don't mind taking up space for a new cab get the Helios Cab or the Friedman or just use what you have now and load the same mix they are using.

I think the GC (Platinum) near me sometimes has Friedman cabs in stock - I may take my amp and test it. The Scumback J75 are a little dark but I don't like a really bright tone. The JJ seemed to be a darker sounding amp but also had cut. I wonder how much tonal difference the poly fill in the Bogner cabs make...been tempted to take it out or reverse the back panel. I think it's supposed to reduce high end frequencies.

When I had a helios i thought it sounded much better through my bogner uber kab (rear loaded) than my Friedman cab

yeah, mine are FL but it sounded good with that cab too. I wonder if a JJ would work with an Uberkab :D

No sir - the sound was great but when I ran it side by side with my 100w amps it sounded like a toy, didn't have the girth.

Marshall ish tones without a g12m speaker whether it is green or cream is blasphemy as far as I am concerned. I'd run both a v30 412 and a Green or cream 412...

I was watching your videos the other day... I have a Hotrod 100 that I recently got.

How is it? I had thought about getting a Decatone, HR100, Avenger etc. but I'd prefer a JJ or a Wizard

are guys fans of the stock Friedman cabs (G12/v30's) with Friedmans as well as other M-type heads?

or do folks prefer all G12's or all V30's? Id also probably use the cab at home and so am a little worried about not physically being that far away from the cab and if it would sound weird with mixed speakers?

I had a Wizard MC50 that sounded fantastic with Greenbacks and equally as good with V30 cabs. But then again - it was a Wizard

your clips sound good Rod, I have a 212 with Creamback 65 that I sometimes run with whichever 412 I am running. The M75 is the one for that EVH sound right? (if there is such a thing   )

I don't think I've heard that speaker before...is it like a greenie?
nevermind - I remember it now - Pre Rola holy grail stuff...
Needless to say I've never tried one

It's post Rola ;). They were in late 70's/ early 80's cabs.the modern equivalent is the Celestion Creamback. Imagine a smoother V30.

My fav speaker..just sounds right with everything. Jubilee, SLO, MK3, Deliverance..and of course stock JCM/JMP. They have to me similar tone to a Greenie but less crispy on top. I have a checkerboard Marshall A cab from 79 and its awesome. Nice mids tight lows and smooth highs. These are supposed to be higher watt greenbacks but they aren't as abrasive on the top end, like I find newer greenies to be. Haven't played through older greenies though..I've heard the WGS ET65s are close if you don't want to spend the coin on the Heritage Celestion...

I wonder if they're similar to the Creamback 65 - those are in my 2x12 Stack Cab

I think the creambacks are true to the greenback tone, more or less from what I've heard. 65s are fuller in the mids to me and less crispy on the top end. Thing is, there's like 12 variations of 65s. I had an 83 800 cab with 65s and they were darker. I could match the tone of my 79 cab by turning up the highs...but when I ran both cabs obviously they wouldn't match up. There is an 800 A cab at the Guitar Center in Hollywood with 65s for 600...its advertised as a 260W cab..
