What do you use to amplify ipad/bias at home?

I need something to practice with and compose in my bedroom and I think for the moment my best option would be a nice ipad app such as bias. The question is, what do you use to monitor yourself (apart from headphones) and move some air?

I mean something not too expensive but I do want something that sounds more than decent and get the most out of the apps.

A blue tooth speaker! I use the JBL for when I'm traveling for work!

Headphones and amp FX loops. This stuff sounds great thru tubes.

I'm using an old pa head to push a 4x12 and it's very decent for what it is.

At home I usually just plug into headphones or interface to record riffs or just jam.

The .44 magnum pedal would be pretty awesome but at the same time I'm considering a good power amp.

I'm using KRK Rokit 5 monitors and Sony headphones. The Rokits sound pretty good, a bit heavy on the low end though. I'd really like to try it through an FX return!

For Jam up I use my Bose Soundlink bluetooth speaker but for Bias I'm stuck using headphones as theres still no output selector for full range speakers and it just sounds super shit through any full range setup.

Are you disabling the cab sim???

I can run both Bias and Jam up through a power amp and 4x12 and they both sound killer and near identical when I switch over.

For me it is iPad --> bluetooth --> bluetooth receiver --> mixer --> Crown Power amp --> Mackie PA speakers.

Sounds huge......

Could you elaborate more on the bluetooth --> bluetooth receiver --> mixer part?

Do these allow you to NOT use a Irig/Apogee Jam or whatever other converters are out there?

What kind of Bluetooth devices are you using?

You bet. I am using this bluetooth receiver from diamond (http://www.diamondmm.com/btm300-diamond-wireless-bluetooth-music-receiver.html). The 3.5 mm jack connects as an input into a channel on my mixer and then into the power amp. You still need Apogee Jam / iRig to get your guitar signal into the ipad, at which point you can jam to your headphones, or direct the output to a bluetooth connection that you configure on the iPad. With the mixer you can mix in drum tracks, jams tracks etc via mp3-player, loopers, guitar trainers etc...

In my particular case, I use the iPad to stream anytune+ (best song-learning app i have ever used) to the mixer, and I just plug my guitar into my amps and play along to what comes out of the PA.

That's cool, are the songs free on anytune?

I have used the Jam up mixer dealy that does the same thing but you have to already have the songs on your ipad/iphone and upload them.

No. I upload all the songs that I want to learn to dropbox and anytune easily downloads it from there. I like anytune because you can slow a song right down and you can still hear the notes quite clearly. Plus, you can add "placemarks" to the song and jump directly to the placemarks, loop between two marks etc... fantastic app... its $15 for the pro version but worth it (to me, at least) when compared to the alternatives like "amazing slow downer" etc
