What Happened To Anusrar ?

So where do you draw the line of what shouldn’t be allowed because someone finds it in appropriate?
The problem isn’t that some people find drag in appropriate, that’s a given. The problem is that people are saying that it shouldn’t be available as a completely optional in no way mandatory event that people have to chose to go to. It’s complete bullshit and incredibly hypocritical.
Subjectivity is always an issue, I'm just laying a general standard. People can figure it out. It's obvious though with drag story hour that the intention is to push the boundary. And to your point, if a bar or other private venue wants to host it and parents want to take their children, that's their business. I am talking about public libraries and schools.

And if a baker doesn't want to bake a gay wedding cake that's their goddam business too.

You’d rather have kids be read to at a bar than a library? You are really grasping at straws now lol

Not personally, but I remember people objecting to some type of drag event at a bar (maybe coffeeshop?) where kids were. And where I live there are breweries and so on that are family destinations. Just an example.

I remember someone posting here about a dumbass parent who brought their kids to a late night drag show, then called the performers sickos for performing for kids. But it’s hard to keep track of all the retarded things that happen here

My summer schedule attests to this. Plenty of courtyard bar-music-other family fun-dogs welcome type establishments. I know one does hold drag events but I don't know what it amounts to. I so rarely go to clubs besides gigging but when I do it's to a local blues jam not a drag event or crawfish boil or some of the other events bars around here host. I mean, one of them has belt sander races.....

1. You see it as strictly and adult topic, I do not. I see it as a performance and you see it as a lifestyle. That’s why the choice to participate is important.

2. ...if I straight person does the same thing, it’s perfectly acceptable.

3. Kids this age have no concept of “sex” in the sexual sense. ..... “Sarah has two mommies” it’s not very confusing to them because they haven’t grown up in a world with people telling them two mommies is wrong. Adults are he only ones making it sexual.

4. And I called that lady a Karen because there is a proper way to make her voice heard about the school, and that is contacting the school.

5. She went around the school to cause a stir, and it worked. And that’s why she’s a cunt. Now the whole town has to deal with her shit because she didn’t want to simply show up at school meeting, or talk to the superintendent. She wanted to be a faceless shmuck and call the police.

6. I was making a leap of faith saying that her kid might be gay.

7. I’m sure the book actually was there at some point,

8. The common theme here is the parents.

1. Not sure I said anything about Drag being a lifestyle. :dunno: I'm sure those men don't walk around like that all the time. They dressed up to do a performance, as you call it. A performance that I believe should not be geared toward children.

2. Not sure I said anything about if a straight person wanted my kid to sit on his lap, that that would be acceptable to me. Never mind reading Pride books (at that age).

3. I disagree. I think they know a lot more sex and what is attractive or not than we give them credit for. I also don't think the world is telling our kids that "two mommies is wrong". I think they realize that it takes a Mommy and Daddy to make a kid. How it all works may be a bit of a mystery to them but they know. So two Mommies, IMO is confusing. I'm not saying women cannot be lesbians. Adopting kids though might be questionable in my book.

4. OK. I see. So you already knew she did not contact the school, the board, a teacher or an administrator or the like in the past?

5. I don't see what the problem is if a parent wants to create a stir if they feel strongly about something. I feel the word 'cunt' is a bit harsh.

6. I see.

7. I see.

8. Agreed. Parents trying to do the best they can for their children regardless of what side of the argument they are on. I also agree that there are plenty of parents that just don't give a shit.

I also personally feel that grade schools (mostly on the coasts) seem to want to push this agenda. Most of this stuff doesn't happen here in middle America :dunno:

You mentioned teenagers in one of your other posts to someone one else on this topic. I'm not talking about teenagers. I'm talking about kids. K - 6 in particular. The fact that you let your kids go to a Drag Queen (man dressed up as a woman with makeup and costume) Story Hour is certainly your right.

Lastly. Not everyone is going to agree with you Dan. Your thoughts and opinions are yours. Enjoy them. But please do not try to insinuate that my belief system is wrong or that I'm homophobic. Also, TBH, I knew very little about this topic until about a year or so ago when it became more widely publicized and it was brought up and discussed here. If the people in the pictures I have seen are not characteristic of what it is like then I have more to learn for sure. Happy to learn more. I have an open mind and I am a free thinker.

So maybe these are exaggerations. It is what popped up when I searched on drag queen. If you are cool with your kids hanging around these dudes, that is your choice. I find it pretty creepy.

And I don't know what is going on with the printed words on the stage at this place. :dunno:

The teenagers mentioned were about the book that was reported to the police. It was in a middle school and middle school has teenagers. Also the drag story hour ranges from ages 3 to adults. They have different programs for different ages as well as different books. Or you can request them to read whatever you want.

But I am confident the lady did not go through proper channels first because it has been a topic of every school board, pta and community group meeting ever since it happened, and not once has anyone stepped forward to say they tried anything before the police. I personally think she is a piece of garbage.

I don’t think I have told anyone they are wrong for being against any of this. What I think is wrong is that people are trying to stop it. I think that is completely wrong.

I don’t see anything wrong with any of those except for the last photo, but that photo is not drag story hour. Drag story hour is a specific organization.
Like I’ve said before, I have no interest in bringing my kids to one of the story hours. There have been several in my area and all it took to not go was to simply not go. It’s a non issue.
I actually talked to a dude yesterday at length about it. He was in town for one of the drag story events and he was visiting a different community event I was working at. It was pretty interesting and he certainly seemed to be a more well rounded person than many of the detractors I’ve come across.
He wasn’t in drag nor did he once try and convince me to bring my kids to one.

Thanks for the clarifications @Aynirar27 . That's what I get for just coming back and playing catch up too fast. Specifically the teenager part of the story and you letting your kids go to a drag queen story hour. Also, didn't realize that was an organization.

Regardless, you think it is OK for kids and the pics above don't bother you so we will just agree to disagree on this. Cheers.

From Houston at those oh-so-wholesome events

Drag queen storytime reader once charged with child sex assault

Second ‘Drag Queen Story Hour’ library reader exposed as convicted child sex offender

Now, it turns out that a second Houston Public Library Drag Queen was convicted of multiple sexual assaults against young children, according to records uncovered by Houston MassResistance activists. The man has also written a lurid article describing his work as a transgender prostitute. And he was photographed at a Drag Queen Story Hour (DQSH) event carrying a rubber chicken — a symbol used by homosexuals to indicate a sexual preference for young boys.
