What is in your Mic Locker?

Thanks Gents. I've seen the e-series used so often, but never really got to know them or used them personally myself - always did 2x close mic with the Shure 57s, and 1x ambient about 6 feet from the cab with the Rode.

May pick a couple of these up.

I love my e906 for clean, low and medium gain stuff. That mic has the biggest sweet spot of any cab mic I own.

Ya, that's kinda what I'm gathering by its side focus and all... You're pretty specific to say "clean, low and medium gain", what's in your arsenal for higher gain goods?

Peace - and thanks for chiming in

I have a MD-421II, the e906, several other nice dynamics, but for some reason I always end up with a single 57, through an API style pre, double tracked hard left and right. Done. Works for Andy Sneap, so it's good enough for me. lol

As above, I've been using the 57s for close mic of cabinets, higher volume, high SPL, high gain. Usually 2 of 'em, in 2 different distances from the dust cap on either the same cone or different cone, same cabinet.

Im shocked the Heil PR30 isn't getting as much love as it deserves!

Similar to a 57, with a larger diaphragm and lots of headroom!!

I'm going to get one eventually. Right now the Audix i5 has replaced the SM57 for me in a lot of guitar miking applications (mainly Kemper) :D

I used to use 57s on cabs, but once I tried a friend's 421 and I never went back. You should give them a shot.
